Might be missing rear wrapper though front wrapper is p. 1 and last page is p. 16. Some edge chipping and mild soiling. No copies located by OCLC.A mildly technical pamphlet dealing with the strengths and uses of Douglas fir from carriages to use in railways. The last 4 pp. are testimonies from customers includes testimony from the Southern Pacific Company. In 1886 the Port Blakely Mill Company joined forces with several Puget Sound area mills to start the Pacific Pine Lumber Company. Pacific Pine Lumber set quotas for regional mills and established lumber yards in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1897 the Pacific Pine Lumber Company went out of business and their affairs were taken over by another firm to form the Pacific Lumber Company with offices on Market Street in San Francisco. 1950s Dravo Corp. Neville Island Photo Album: Workers Meetings Execs Events
Large original photo album from 1951-1954 owned by the Vice President of Dravo William Earl Clark who was General Manager of the Engineering Works Division and whose work was mainly at Neville Island. Dravo was in those days a huge engineering company responsible for ship-building and other large-scale engineering projects. They apparently worked closely or were aligned with Levinson Steel of Pittsburgh as there are a number of photos of that company's gatherings too. Over 50 photos the large majority 8x10 and captioned detailing meetings important events parties gatherings including signing of a new agreement with the unions photos of workers of some of the technology and plant interiors etc. Accompanying this is another Dravo folder with multiple copies of letters of introduction for Clark signed by the President of Dravo Carl B. Jansen and other letters from his MD and the local sherif verifying his good standing. Dravo was just coming off its best years as a major contractor for the US Navy in WWII building all kinds of ships for the war effort and was then still flush with money and contracts. unknown

Incisione in acciaio (mm. 120 x 150 applicata su foglio) di Conquy su disegno di Robert Lefevre, databile nella metà del sec. XIX. Ritrae Guillaume Louis Terneaux (1763-1833), imprenditore del tessile, che introdusse l'uso del cashemere in Europa per prodotti di lusso, con fabbriche in Francia e all'estero. Fornitore di Napoleone, che lo insignì della Legion d'Onore, nel 1816 divenne barone, titolo ricusato nel 1821. Fu uno degli uomini più ricchi del suo tempo. Di idee liberali, prese parte attiva nella Rivoluzione di luglio del 1828 e si schierò per l'abolizione della schiavitù.

Very good copy of this fun item.As a promotional gig the lumber industry likely at the urging of the author E. A. Wade decide to build a mobile hone out of a single Douglas Fir trunk. They hollowed it out added all the amenities shown in the picture bed sink restroom etc. and mounted it on a "Graham Brothers built by Dodge Brothers Inc. The truck is powered a six-cylinder engine and in crossing the four highest mountain ranges and on all kind of roads we have never been disappointed in out automotive equipment." Apparently two men took the Log to 34 states drove 18000 miles and visited 127 schools all to promoted the 26000000 of Douglas Firs in the Pacific Northwest.
