Legatura settecentesca in cart. alla rustica con nervi passanti. Dorso ben riparato, peraltro esemplare genuino, marginoso e ben conservato. Allegati numerosi fogli manoscritti con annotazioni mediche di mano coeva. Non comune prima edizione di quest'opera medica del Claudini contenente fra l'altro interessanti notazioni sull'idroterapia e le acque termali, sui tumori, sulle vipere, sui vini, sulle proprietà mediche del latte, ecc. Il Claudini, medico nato a Bologna attorno al 1550, esercitò la professione sempre nella propria città, nella cui Università insegnò a lungo; nella stessa Bologna si spense nel 1618. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione ed ancora in barbe. Claudini, discendente per parte di padre da una famiglia di origini riminesi, si laureò a Bologna nel 1574 in filosofia e medicina. Già nel 1578 divenne insegnante rimanendo tale per tutto il corso della sua vita. Claudini fu celeberrimo professore tanto che le sue lezioni attirarono studenti da tutta Europa. Questa edizione contiene oltre alla sua celebre opera sulla figura del medico nella quale l'autore stabilisce il canone della figura del medico anche alcuni degli studi basilari di Claudini come il De catarrho tractatus, dove analizza l'origine di tale affezione, così "comune nella nostra Bologna", ricercandone la "causa" con rinvio a Galeno e Ippocrate, e analizzandone le differenze e i segni, proponendo anche consigli curativi. L'opera contiene diverse nozioni di farmacia con interessanti notazioni sull'idroterapia e le acque termali, sui tumori, sulle vipere, sui vini, sulle proprietà mediche del latte, ecc.
