Original printed wrappers.Most studies on Mesozoic cephalopods deal with ammonites which were far more common, but this one deals with nautiloids, the only group that survived beyond the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary and up to now. Several new species are described and figured. Published on behalf of the Nebraska Geological Survey as their Bulletin 9, second series. With the tiny stamp of Albrecht Rabitz, geologist at the Geologisches Landesamt Nordrhein-Westfalen, with, quite peculiar, his address on the Geological Survey post label tipped in on the front wrapper's verso. Wrappers re-attached, internally a very good clean copy.

Foord (1845-1933) and Mrs. A. H. Foord, from the German original which was published in 1896 in the Denkschriften of the kaiserliche Akademie der Wissenschaften in Vienna. Small stamp in the lower margin of the title page, and on the front pastedown. Short tear in the spine, second joint loose because a second paper was taken out of the binding causing some empty space, internally good, with fine clean plates.

Published over a long period of time and rarely offered complete. The supplementary monograph is by Lycett alone. This is the copy of the British palaeontologist and malacologist Leonard Frank Spath (1882-1957), who is best known for his work on ammonites. Inscribed, in pencil, by Spath on the first title page; some pencil notes, most probably also by Spath, on the front flyleaf verso and on a few plates, one plate with a small, marginal stamp, some light spotting, as usual, but mainly to a few explanatory leaves. A small printed paper with the title and sales price mounted on the first title. In all a very good, complete and well bound set.
