‎Les « Leçons de choses » d’une institutrice de la Troisième République : Beau manuscrit pédagogique destiné à la petite enfance, rédigé d’une écriture très lisible et soignée. Son autrice dirigerait l’école maternelle de Corbeil dans la Région parisienne. Il est divisé en 12 chapitres correspondant aux douze mois de l’année, eux-mêmes divisés en leçons dont les thèmes se rattachent aux mois où elles sont données : octobre, qui ouvre le volume, débute par une leçon sur le vin et les vendanges ; novembre par le labourage ; décembre par la neige ; janvier par le jour de l’an… Chaque sujet traité permet à l’enfant d’acquérir du vocabulaire, et permet à l’institutrice d’élargir sa leçon à des expériences de physique (la leçon sur les sens), à des notions de géographie (la leçon sur le cidre permet d’évoquer la Normandie et sa plus belle ville Rouen) ou des connaissances historiques, la même leçon sur le cidre lui permet de glorifier Jeanne d’Arc brûlée à Rouen. Comme les programmes le recommandaient, l’institutrice parsème ses leçons de courtes histoires morales, mais aussi, comme avec Jeanne d’Arc, inculque à ses jeunes élèves l’amour de la patrie. La dfernière leçon d’août est d’ailleurs erntièrement consacrée à « l’amour de notre patrie ». Nous sommes en 1888 et le traumatisme né de la défaite de 1870 est toujours palpable. C’est Marie Pape-Carpantier (1815-1879, la grande réformatrice des salles d’asile ancêtres des écoles maternelles, qui utilisa la première l’expression « leçons de choses » dans les conférences qu’elle donna aux instituteurs réunis à l’occasion de l’Exposition universelle de 1867. Il s‘agissait de mettre en application de façon raisonnée, ordonnée, le premier enseignement donné de façon intuitive par la mère. Jule Ferry les institutionnalisa et elles entrèrent à l’école dans les programmes de 1882. Dans le Dictionnaire de Pédagogie de Buisson on trouve un résumé de ce programme divisé comme ici mois par mois. Mais si Mlle Lefèvre a bien suivi le programme qui lui était imposé, c’est elle qui a choisi la méthode par questions et réponses, et c’est elle aussi qui a décidé d’insister sur le patriotisme. Bel exemplaire fort bien relié.‎
