Awarded to Katherine Esther Tripp for completion of the general course prescribed by the Board of Education. Engraving of school building beneath large decorative text with school name across the top of certificate. The early 20th century saw new educational opportunities for American women who upon graduating from high school could attend integrated colleges. Educational activists like Catharine E Beecher advocated fiercely for women's right to enter any college based on the belief that gender equality was contingent on the quality of female education and institutional opportunities to support it. Creased where folded. Light toning to edges does not affect text or image. Original gold seal clipped but otherwise intact. Overall good condition. unknown
