Contains the history of the Dutch East Indian Company with the lives of all 28 Dutch Governors-General arranged chronologically from Pieter Both appointed in 1609 to Jacob Mossel appointed in 1752 as well as information on the Dutch East Indies and other Dutch colonies such as Ceylon Formosa Australia and the Cape of Good Hope. The maps and plans are by the artist and engraver Jacobus van der Schley 1715-79 who was a pupil of Bernard Picart. One engraving with â€Pater Noster†in Sinhalese text. Views of a.o.
