Mai 1830 zwischen "Henry Smith Esquire of the Town and County of Nottingham Esquire of the one part and Samuel Smith [...] Esquires carrying on business as bankers at Nottingham in partnership with the said Henry Smith under the Style or Firm of "Samuel Smith Esquire and Company" of the other part". Vertragliche Verpflichtung über den zu zahlenden Betrag von GBR 6000 von Henry Smith an Francis Hart (der zu zahlende Betrag schriftlich bezeugt von der Witwe Sir Thomas Parkyns', Dame Jane Parkyns, bezüglich eines 1750 geschlossenen Vertrages über das im Besitz der Familie Parkyns befindliche Anwesen von Ruddington. Eigenhändig unterzeichnet ("signed, sealed and delivered") von Henry Smith und John Sherbrooke Gell Sol. ("solicitor"). Verso mit der handschriftlichen Notiz: "Henry Smith Esquire with Messrs. [Messieurs]Smith: The within mentioned principal sum of GBP 6000 with all interest due thereon was hand off this 25th June [Jahreszahl unleserlich]. Oben links mit dem Prägestempel "One Pound Fifteen Shillings (ein weiterer Stempel darunter unleserlich) sowie dem Familiensiegel von Abel Smith auf dem zweiten Blatt (dargestellt sind ein nach unten offener Winkel, darum drei sich angreifende und dennoch respektierende, geflügelte Fabelwesen sowie ein Elephant im Oberwappen, unter dem Wappen der Schriftzug "Tenax in Fide"). - Henry Smith (sowie die erwähnten Samuel George, John, Abel und Samuel George Smith) waren Mitglieder der wohlhabenden britischen Bankiersfamilie Smith, die auf Thomas Smith (1631-1699), den Gründer der Smith's Bank of Nottingham, zurückgeht. Die "Smith's Bank of Nottingham" gilt als die erste Bank, die außerhalb Londons gegründet wurde. Zwischen 1658 und 1918 entstanden weitere einflußreiche, von der Familie Smith kontrollierte Bankpartnerschaften in London und den Provinzen. Sir Thomas Parkyns of Bunny Park in the County of Nottingham (1664-1741) war britischer Autor und Architekt, Lady Jane Parkyns war seine Ehefrau. Parkyns wurde durch sein Handbuch zum Ringen bekannt und galt unter anderem wegen seiner Sammlung von Steinsärgen als Exzentriker. Sein "Progymnasmata. The Inn-Play: or Cornish-Hugg Wrestler" gilt als das früheste Handbuch des Fecht- und Ringsports. - Wenig gebräunt und stellenweise fleckig. Leicht angerändert und mit wenigen, kleinen Ausbrüchen entlang der Kuvertfaltung. Ansonsten in guter Erhaltung.‎

(Obra extremadamente rara que narra una conspiración ficticia perpetrada en Inglaterra en 1678, atribuida a miembros de la Iglesia católica con el fin de desacreditarlos en un escándalo público y basada en un supuesto complot papista que pretendía asesinar al rey Carlos II de Inglaterra y reemplazarlo por Jacobo II, su hermano de confesión católica). (Extremely rare. This Manifesto dated London, 3 January 1679 (p.39) and translated into Castilian by July of the same year, appeared at the height of the panic about the popish plot. Commissioned by a man of importance ("un gran sujeto"), the translation aimed to publicize the facts about the persecution of Catholics. The work provides detailed biographies of the principal inventor of the plot - Titus Oates, and of other key witnesses -- William Bedloe and his brother, Miles Prance and Stephen Dugdale. The details of the supposed conspiracy to assassinate the King are examined and the claims of the witnesses challenged. Particular attention is paid to the activities of Oates and the Bedloes in Spain, and their characters and conduct are discredited. The assertions of the Manifesto are supported by the evidence provided in five "Instruments": sworn testimonies by various Spaniards, English Merchants in Bilbao, a letter by Oates himself relating to the Bedloes and a letter of the Rector of the Irish College in Salamanca).‎
