About Russia

Pages are crisp and unmarked. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. 1974. Translated from the French. First Edition in English. "From the foreword by Henri Cartier-Bresson: "I am neither an economist nor a photographer of monuments and I am not much of a journalist either. What I am trying to do more than anything else is to observe life. Nineteen years after my first visit to the Soviet Union I had a desire to go back and take another look. Actually nothing is more revealing than to compare a country with what it once was looking both for the thread of continuity and for those things that have changed. The camera is not what I would call an ideal tool for answering the 'why' of things. It is better suited to suggesting to recalling; and ideally in its own intuitive way it questions and answers simultaneously. I therefore used the camera in the course of my trip throughout Russia as the recording instrument in my search for what Andre Breton calls 'le hasard objectif.'" Bound in the original black cloth stamped in bright white on the spine. From the dust jacket: "After an introduction by the photographer the book is divided into four parts: Leningrad Moscow and the Federal Republic of Russia the Republic of Estonia the Republics of the Caucasus and the Republics of Central Asia." Oversize Hardcover. 9.5" wide by 10.5" tall. This large heavy book will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments but only the standard charge for media mail. CARTIER BRESSON Henri photographies de ARTAUD Antonin intro. de.
Les Danses à Bali.
S.l. Robert Delpire / Coll. ''Huit'' 1954. S.l., Robert Delpire / Coll. ''Huit'', (1954). Un vol. au format in-12 (190 x 137 mm) non paginé. Plein cartonnage de l'éd unknown
