1930 Sans date [1930]. Tirage albuminé de l’époque contrecollé sur carton. Petite tache noire. TRÈS BEAU PORTRAIT À L'ÉVENTAIL de Marthe Vinot par la photographe autrichienne Dora Kallmus dite Madame d'Ora (1881-1963), l'une des rares femmes photographes professionnelles du tout début du XXe siècle. Dédicace autographe de Marthe Blanchar à sa fille Dominique Blanchar : pour mon petit Minet, mon petit ange adoré. sa Maman Épreuve augélatino bromure d'argent montée sur carton et signée à la mine de plomb "d'ora paris" dans l'angle inférieur droit (circa 1930). Tampon à sec sur le carton : " d'ora Paris, 22bis rue Eugène Flachat". Marthe Vinot (1894-1974), fit carrière dans le cinéma muet, tournant dans 29 films de Louis Feuillade en plus dapparaître dans les productions de Gaston Ravel, Maurice Mariaud, Luitz-Morat et Henri Diamant-Berger.

1855 1855. Papier salé avec rehauts de peintures. Quelques frottements et craquelures, petits manques dans la partie inférieure gauche. RARE PORTRAIT INÉDIT, REHAUSSÉ EN COULEURS DÉDICACÉ ET SIGNÉ EN AOÛT 1855. Né en avril 1820, fils d'un imprimeur et libraire, Gaspard-Félix Tournachon alias Nadar, commence à travailler comme caricaturiste et romancier pour des journaux comme Le Charivari. Proche des membres de la bohème parisienne, Gérard de Nerval, Charles Baudelaire et Théodore de Banville, Il passe de la caricature à la photographie lorsque son frère Adrien, qui prend des cours de photographie avec Gustave Le Gray, ouvre un studio de photographie au 35 boulevard des Capucines. Après avoir lui aussi suivi quelques cours en 1854, il commence la photographie en amateur dans son appartement du 113, rue Saint-Lazare. Ses premiers portraits d'artistes et d'écrivains célèbres datent de cette période. Il interrompt temporairement ce travail en septembre, lorsque Adrien, dont le studio connait des difficultés, lui demande de s'associer avec lui. Mais, en janvier 1855, après une querelle entre les deux frères, Félix Nadar quitte son frère et ouvre au printemps son propre studio commercial.Il produit alors des portraits sur papier salé monté immédiatement reconnaissable par leur format de 28 x 21 cm. Ce portrait dYvan fut réalisé durant les débuts commerciaux de Nadar. Datée par Nadar août 1855, cette photographie a une forme elliptique semblable au portrait de Berthelier de la même période présent dans les collections du musée Getty. Le portrait a été rehaussé en couleurs, ce qui est particulièrement rare dans les premières uvres de Nadar. Nous n'avons pu retracer qu'un seul portrait de 1855 également rehaussé, portrait d'Henri Murger, (Collections duGetty Museum). Ce portrait n'apparaît pas dans les archives de Nadar, achetées par la Bibliothèque nationale de France, il est resté inconnu jusqu'à ce jour. Enfin, comme l'indique la dédicace de Nadar, Yvan était un ami [à mon ami] mais il n'a pu encore être identifié. Quelques d'hypothèses ont été émises à son sujet, en se basant sur son costume : un artiste de cirque, métier que Nadar a souvent photographié ? Un étranger costumé pour l'exposition universelle de 1855 ?

Portraits From Above - Hong Kong's Informal Rooftop Communities
Self-built settlements on the roofs of high-rise buildings have been an integral part of Hong Kong's history for over half a century. Rooftop structures range from basic shelters for the disadvantaged to intricate multi-storey constructions equipped with the amenities of modern life. This stunning book by Rufina Wu (architect, Vancouver) and Stefan Canham (photographer, Hamburg) is an in depth look at informal settlements built on top of other buildings in Hong Kong. It consists of 280 pages of photographs, drawings, and short interviews with the settlements' inhabitants. Wu and Canham spent three months in Hong Kong's Kowloon Peninsula exhaustively documenting five of these settlements. They did so without any organizational or personal contacts to people living in the settlements. They walked up the stairs of the first building and started talking to people. The result is the first book published on these communities. For the book, Wu made extensive measurements of each settlement that she converted into drawings that appear throughout. Stefan Canham took the lavish, carefully constructed photographs that you find in this book with his large format camera. The photographs are in both color and duotone. The craft of the documentation and its presentation in this volume is impeccable. There is a very brief section, only three images, of evicted settlements. The photographs here are powerful and show the erased homes and lives of people whose plight must have been very similar to the others documented in this book. The visual and oral research by Wu and Canham is anchored by an essay, "Rooftop Housing in Hong Kong: An Introduction," by Dr. Ernest Chui. The essay lays out some of the historic and economic reasons for the existence of the rooftop settlements: various waves of legal and illegal immigration, tolerance for inadequate housing rather than spending money on public housing, critical shortage of land, and more. — Testi: Wu Rufina, Canham Stefan. pagg. 278; COL; rileg. brossura.
