‎Photograph portrays a three-masted sailing ship under full canvas; framed and glazed; very tiny additional ship visible in distance; approximately a dozen crew members visible on deck; no ship name visible no date but circa 1890 or so and flying Belgian colors aft; 16 3/4" x 28" visible image; approximately 25" x 36 1/2" framed size; old brown wood frame probably contemporary with the piece; paper backer; old matting; a fairly clear and well-composed nautical image; probably the largest hand-colored photograph we have seen; some wear and scraping to the frame still very solid; a little discoloration to the right side of the matting board unobtrusive; unexamined out of the frame; in very good condition an interesting nautical photographic image in a very large format.
