Full Tite : The healing influence of Active Imagination in a Specific Case of Neurosis [ Unique and exceptional copy with autograph manuscripts and 12 original drawings: Anna Marjula mystery solved ! ] Unique copy with 12 original colored symbolical drawings sometimes (3 of them with comments in english) and 14 leaves with manuscript text (3 letters and poems) in flemish. Most of this extra-material is not signed except three letters (two dated 13-5-73 and 28-10-74) signed "Tante Han" or “Hanna”, clearly original work by "Anna Marjula", pseudonym used to protect the identity of the author (The letter "E". On an envelop is written : "These drawings illustrate the fifth conversation with the Great Mother pages 26-27". Many early jungian analysts worked with Anna Marjula (Toni Wolff, Emma Jung or Barbara Hannah), but her real name remained unknown, until now (but we knew it was a pianist). Indeed, our research allowed us to identify the recipient, Ms. Parvati Chavoix-Jodjana ("Vati") but especially the author, who hides behind the pseudonym of Anna Marjula : the famous dutch pianist and composer Hanna Beekhuis (1889-1980) ! A newspaper clipping is joined on a postcard, (that we join), titled : "Gouden medaille voor Hanna Beekhuis" and here's the translation : "Gold medal for Hanna Beekhuis: Arnhem, 3 Oct. - The Dutch composer of chamber music works and songs, Hanna Beekhuis from Ellecom, who currently resides in Zurich, has won a gold medal and an honorary diploma with "Reflet du Japon", a composition for viola and viola at an international competition held in Buenos Aires". It is known she won this medal in 1961. Hanna Beekhuis resided in Zurich, and was previously in relationship with Carl Jung (28 letters or copy of letters between Jung and Hanna Beekhuis, from 1942 until 1960, would be kept in the ETH-Bibliothek). Barbara Hannah explains in her preface that “Professor Jung had, however, once spoken to Anna of including it in a volume of case histories, and, as he died before he had collected the other cases, she was naturally disappointed”. We identify well the identical writing of "Aunt Hanna" with that present on the handwritten drawings, and with the only autograph word reproduced in the work - "Eve". Our incredible copy comes from Parvati Chavoix-Jodjana, daughter of a famous javanese dancer in France, Raden Mas Jodjana (1893-1972) and his wife Raden Ayou. Hanna Beekhuis accompanied the dancer in the 1920s. Another interesting relation with Jungian Psychanalysis is that the Jodjana were friends with Kurt Binswanger and his wife Erica since 1935. Here's some translated extract on a signed letter : “You said me that your Father has become your Guru. What is a guru ? [… ] Your father told me that he was a free thinker. Bedankt sich bei einem Vetter herzlich für empfangene Zeilen: "Ich habe Donnerstag Abends meine Familie nach Unterach begleitet und bin erst heute Morgens retour - daher mein verspäteter Dank [...]". - Der aus dem ungarischen Köszeg gebürtige Wiener Jurist Dr. Edmund Markbreiter war Onkel von Arthur Schnitzler, nämlich Schwager seines Vaters, des Laryngologen Johann Schnitzler, der die Vorlage für "Professor Bernhardi" bildete. Der Jurist des Stückes, Dr. Goldenthal, mag Züge der stark an die katholische Gesellschaft akkulturierten Familie Markbreiter tragen; sicher aber fand Schnitzler in der Geschichte seines Onkels Motive für seine Novelle "Fräulein Else" (1924): 1890 musste Markbreiter, der selbst eine Tochter namens Else (1870-1902) hatte, wegen Veruntreuung anvertrauter Gelder nach Amerika fliehen. Er wurde 1895 US-Staatsbürger und starb in Chicago.

Together with original cover, opened on three sides, bearing three postal marks and one stamp, and measuring 11 x 8 cm. Both in very good condition, from the autograph collection of Seymour C.J. Freeman-Matthews. The addressee, Seymour C.J. Freeman-Matthews was a collector of autographs and amassed a sizeable treasure of signatures with solicitations such as which led to this letter and autograph being penned by a great Arctic navigator. The letter reads as follows: "Dear Sir, I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th inst. and, in reply, have much pleasure in complying with your request, Believe me. Poet best remembered for "The Man with the Hoe." Partly-printed ADS 1p 7¼" X 10½" West New Brighton NY 1929 September 21. Very good. Updating form sent out by "Who's Who in America" for their 1930-31 edition on orange stock with Markham's 2" X 3" biographical entry from the previous edition affixed onto the blank center area. Markham has written on the wide margin "is frequently called the leader of the Democratic movement in American poetry" and "Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters" plus one minor correction. At the bottom he signs and gives his address. An editor has made marks and drawn lines in green ink through most of Markham's additions; two checkmarks near the signature barely touch two letters; there are several other editor's marks in pencil and red pencil. A colorful extremely interesting document. unknown

Schoolchildren nationwide used to be required to memorize this poet's social protest piece "The Man with the Hoe" which was inspired by Millet's painting of the same name. Printed DS 1p 8½" X 14" n.p. Staten Island NY n.d. post-1924. Near fine. Broadside printing of this most renowned poem signed big and bold at the lower margin "Your friend Edwin Markham: / Staten Island N.Y." Bright and attractive. "Bowed by the weight of centuries he leans / Upon his hoe and gazes on the ground" Markham begins. "The emptiness of ages in his face / And on his back the burden of the world." -- still a powerful and moving piece despite changes in poetry style and diction. Accompanied by a fine heavy stock 6¼" X 5" color reproduction of Millet's namesake painting. unknown

An Zeitungs- und Verlagshäuser in der Absicht, seine Werke zu veröffentlichen. - An die Redaktion der Illustrierten Zeitung in Leipzig mit dem Angebot eines Quintetts aus seiner Oper "Der König von Zion" (1850): "Es wird Ihnen nicht unbekannt sein, daß vor Kurzem meine neue Oper 'Der König von Zion' mit außerordentlich glücklichem Erfolge über die hiesige Bühne gegangen ist [...] Da es nun mein inniger Wunsch sein muß, daß der Erfolg des Werks auch auf andern Bühnen sich bestätige, und viel gelesene Organe zur Erreichung dieses Ziels viel beizutragen vermögen, so erlaube ich mir Ihnen das inliegende Quintett zur Veröffentlichung [...] mitzutheilen" (15. V. 1850). - An den Redakteur Franz Brendel in Leipzig mit einem Beitrag für die Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, in der Hoffnung, ihn im nächsten Sommer persönlich kennenzulernen: "Einliegend erlaube ich mir Ihnen einen Bericht über das musikalische Treiben Danzigs im verflossenenen Winter mitzutheilen, mit der Bitte, dem Artikel so bald als möglich eine Stelle in Ihrer hochgeschätzten Neuen Zeitschrift f. M. gefälligst einräumen zu wollen [...] Es ist sehr möglich, daß ich Sie im nächsten Sommer in Leipzig persönlich werde begrüßen können, denn ich reise jedenfalls nach Berlin, in Angelegenheiten meines Oratoriums 'Johannes der Täufer', dessen Aufführung in der Sing-Akademie für den nächsten Winter in Aussicht gestellt ist, und wenn meine Zeit es irgend gestattet, so mache ich auch einen Abstecher nach Leipzig [...]" (23. An Hans Nüchtern: "Hier ist es fast so schön wie bei Ihren Proben in der Johannesgasse [...]". - Elisabeth Markus war Ensemblemitglied des Deutschen Volkstheaters in Wien und später des Theaters in der Josefstadt, spielte an Max Reinhardts Deutschem Theater in Berlin und wirkte zudem an zahlreichen Film- und Fernsehproduktionen mit. - Der aus Wien stammende Journalist und Dramaturg Hans Nüchtern (1896-1962) war seit 1924 Leiter der literarischen Abteilung der RAVAG und unterrichtete auch an der Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst sowie am Max Reinhardt-Seminar. - Der mit Bleistift verfaßte Brief mit stärkeren Randläsuren.
