‎Fillmore Millard 1800 1874; Charles Magill Conrad 1804 1878; Roger Jones‎

‎Lithographic Portrait of Millard Fillmore‎

‎Buffalo 1853. First Edition . Single Sheet. Fair. 16 1/4" x 12 5/8. Richard M. Compton. Scarce large oval lithographic portrait of Fillmore on heavy card with publisher's information and date at foot of portrait in very small type. Compton was a publisher in Buffalo for several years later becoming a piano manufacturer. Signed by Fillmore beneath his portrait I would think this is signed in the plate although the ink is quite solid. Note- this is an early lithograph published in the last year of his Presidency not the much later steel engraving. "Entered according to Act of Congress - 1853 by R. J. Compton in the Clerk's OFfice of First Court of - Northern District of New York". An aged copy wear edge creases and two creases across the length of the portrait these are not folds however.

unknown‎
