First edition of these very scarce dealer showroom catalogues for the 1961 Oldsmobile automobiles which featured the introduction of the unique mid-size F-85 powered by a aluminum 215 cubic inch V-8 trying to compete with similar offerings by Buick and Pontiac. The full size line-up models featured an all-new smaller streamlined and rounded body and chassis with perimeter “Guard Beam†frame and all-coil suspension replaced the leaf springs. All of the full-size Oldsmobiles were powered by the 394 cubic-inch Rocket V8 with the Dynamic 88 featuring a 2-barrel 250 horsepower version. The Super 88 could be purchased with a 4-barrel 394 Skyrocket V8 rated at 325 horsepower. These catalogues also include the supplement for the convertible-only “Starfire†which was introduced in mid-1961 and was based on the Super 88 convertible sporting leather bucket seats a center console with floor shifter -- the first U.S. full-sized production car to feature an automatic transmission with console-mounted floor shifter. A pleasing Nr Fine copy. 30 2 pp. 14 'new' models described and illustrated with black & white photographic images. 8-3/8" x 6-7/8" <br/><br/>Paige was a Detroit United States based automobile company selling luxury cars between 1908 and 1927. The first car in 1908 was called a Paige-Detroit and was a two-seat model powered by a 2.2-liter three-cylinder two-stroke engine. In 1910 four-stroke four-cylinder models took over and in 1911 the name was changed to Paige. A six-cylinder model was added to the range in 1914. Four-cylinder models were dropped in 1916 leaving a choice of 3.7- or 4.9-liter sixes. A straight-eight engine was added to the sixes in 1927. Probably the most famous Paige was the 1922 to 1926 Daytona a sporting 3-seat roadster with a 6-liter engine. The third seat pulled out from the side of the car over the near side running board. Paige advertised it as being "The most beautiful car in America". OCLC shows no institutional holdings of this 1922 trade catalogue. Buick Motor Company unknown

PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUM OF WHITE MOTOR COMPANY VEHICLES
Chicago 1910. 116 photographs plus advertising leaf removed from HARPER'S MAGAZINE issue. Includes album of modern reproductions of the photographs. Oblong pebbled morocco album gilt title on front board. Boards rubbed and worn corners bumped spine perished. Photographs mounted on original linen which is slightly curled. A few small chips to edges no loss to images occasional toning and spots to images. The photographs overall in near fine condition. A handsome trade album of vehicles available from the White Motor Company Cleveland Oh. which grew out of the White Sewing Machine Company into one of the largest truck military and heavy equipment manufacturers of the 20th century. This album was created especially for W.J. Urquhart the general manager of the Western sales department headquartered in Chicago as reported in "The Horseless Age: The Automobile Trade Magazine" v.24 1909 p.420. The album opens with a photograph of a Pabst beer truck and continues with a wide variety of passenger and commercial vehicles most with the names of the companies painted on the sides. Among the commercial vehicles depicted are trucks operated by Marshall Field Red Rock beverages the Birmingham Coca-Cola Bottling Company Pocahontas Coal and B.F. Goodrich and there are also images of an ambulance and a police car. A few of the images are detailed views of engines transmissions or other mechanical parts of the vehicles. Most of the photographs have a label on the reverse describing the vehicle or part its price and in some cases also including information on the purchaser. Several of the owners are local but most are scattered across the country Canada and even Russia. A few photos depict the full fleet of a company's trucks lined up proudly in front of factories warehouses and storefronts. Despite the company's reputation decades of mismanagement at higher levels forced the company to declare bankruptcy in 1980; White was bought by Volvo the following year. Colour and black & white illustrations throughout self-printed softcovers w/ beautiful cover art painting showing automobiles and railway climbing the sides of Pikes Peak map on back cover slight creasing to corners very minor shelfwear NF copy. First edition of this scarce advertising promotion for the Pikes Peak Highway and the Mt. Manitou excursion. Spencer Penrose entrepreneur gold mining baron and adventurer decided in 1913 to turn the primitive narrow road to the summit of Pikes Peak into an automobile highway in 1915. In collaboration with the Denver & Rio Grande Railway the Pikes Peak Auto Highway Company The Pikes Peak Automobile Company and the Mt. Manitou Park and Incline Railway Company they widened and converted the narrow road into the highest highway in the world for automobiles and motorcycles in which travelers would pay a toll of $2.00 per passenger with a $ 4.00 minimum per car motorcycles were charged $ 2.00 per passenger and children were half-price. To publicize the event Penrose promoted the Pikes Peak Hill Climb with $ 6000 in prices.
