Several of these structures including the Palace and Wilma are now on the National Register of Historic Places. Also on the Register is the striking Art Moderne-styled Florence which has welcomed visitors to Missoula and the Big Sky Country for three decades.<br/> <br/>Undated this piece was likely issued by The Missoulian shortly after the completion of the Florence Hotel in 1941. It was union printed in black and yellow on the recto and solid blue on the verso. It measures 18 ½" x 8 ¾" and folds to 3 ¾" x 8 ¾". Especially crisp and bright with just a hint of edgewear. ‎Butte 1902. Good. 16pp. Narrow quarto. Original printed wrappers stapled. Light soiling corners and spine worn. Spine and text separating at lower margin. Minor soiling internally some contemporary annotations. Promotional prospectus for sale of stock belonging to the Montana Standard Mining Company a mining enterprise engaged in the extraction of gold -- a product that "sells itself." The company was incorporated with a capital of $2 million and herein are detailed its properties and their respective worths. The centerfold of the pamphlet is a map of "Properties of Montana Standard Mining Co. near Marysville Lewis & Clarke Co. Montana." The map outlines each claim; a contemporary hand has made pencil notations to the map. "It is now generally concluded that money judiciously invested in mining enterprises yields a much larger return with no more attendant possibilities of absolute loss." ‎New Northwest -- Supplement. Constitution of the State of Montana caption title‎

‎Deer Lodge Mt. 1889. Good. Large broadsheet 26 x 20.5 inches. Old folds. Separation at some folds with slight losses affecting several words in six lines of text. Light toning and soiling. A rare supplemental issue of the New Northwest printing the newly-passed Montana State Constitution. Montana held its constitutional convention in July and August of 1889 finally receiving admission to the Union in November that year. The state constitution printed here includes a thirty-one item Declaration of the Rights of the People of the State of Montana which begins with a statement that "All political power is vested in and derived from the people.is founded on their will only and is instituted solely for the good of the whole." It also includes clauses about the right to bear arms; the right of all citizens whether alien or native to own property and mining rights; and addresses water rights in the state. The New North-west was published in Deer Lodge from 1869-1897 under the auspices of James Hamilton Mills an Ohio native who worked for the Montana Post for several years prior. The town located in the same region as Helena Anaconda and Butte was a mining hub whose major local employer today is the state prison. Runs of the newspaper are held at a handful of institutions in OCLC all but the Montana Historical Society appearing to be relatively sparse. unknown books‎

‎Williams Mt: Western Office 1920. Good. 8pp. Two loose folio sheets. Previously folded with several separations repaired with tape along old folds. Even tanning. An unrecorded promotional for the town of Williams Montana. In its post-World War I heyday it thrived as a result of its proximity to the Valier Irrigation Project and its location on the purpose-built spur from the Great Northern Railroad but today is a ghost town east of Valier. The text extolls these geographic virtues of the town as well as the agricultural benefits from the irrigation project and the good prospects from Montana's other industries in the region. Perhaps most valuable are the descriptions of the town as it existed in 1919 -- its businesses its residences its attractions -- and accompanying photographic illustrations. At the time of publication Williams was an electrified town with its own grocery bank train station blacksmith pool hall and grain elevators situated in the midst of 125000 acres of reclaimed land but the fortunes of its investors declined and the town dwindled to nothing before World War II.
