Hyer named on verso trifling bumps at corners Benjamin B. Hyer 1870-1937 U.S. Army Colonel joined the 6th U.S. Cavalry from West Point. He served three times in the Philippines and in Mexico under Pershing. As a 1st Lieutenant he served at Tientsin and Peking in the China Relief Expedition on General Chaffee's personal staff as acting ADC. While there he led a charge of 60 cavalry to rout several hundred Boxers and was one of a select group to parade in the Forbidden City. For a time he was Professor of Military Science and Tactics at Wentworth Military Academy Lexington Missouri and in 1921 graduated from the General Staff School at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. unknown
