‎Propriétaire de l'ancien château du Maréchal Brune à Saint-Just, Napias-Piquet établit en 1849 avec son frère Louis dit Minor, une colonie agricole et industrielle dont ils étaient les directeurs, en compagnie de Madaule et Guyard, tous deux fouriéristes. Elle comprenait 40 colons. Les manoeuvres d'un notaire aboutirent à l'expropriation et à la vente de la colonie vers la fin de 1850. Probablement déçu par l'échec de son association, Napias-Piquet se tournent vers les Fusioniens : « J'ai comme vous fait la cruelle expérience des associations fondées sur des bases fausses. Je sais qu'elles ne peuvent réussir ni marcher longtemps à travers l'antagonisme des intérêts et que la communion spirituelle seule peut donner des résultats satisfaisants et durables. Nous vous offrons un hymne fusionien. Veuillez l'accepter si vous le croyez conforme à la doctrine ». Maitron II, p. 235.‎

‎Rare copie manuscrite de la bataille d'Eylau tirée de l'édition bilingue allemand-français publiée en 1807 à Weimar par le Geographie Institut sous le titre Nachricht von der Schlacht bei Preusisch-Eylau am 8. Februar 1807 - Aperçu de la bataille qui a été livrée le 8 Février 1807 a Preussisch-Eylau - qui comprend La relation de la bataille d'Eylau par un témoin oculaire suivie des cinq chapitres des différentes positions des armées durant la bataille.« Cette relation supervisée par L'Empereur lui-même fut officiellement publiée en France la même année sous le titre de Bataille de Preussisch-Eylau, gagnée par la grande armée avec des extraits des Bulletins de la Grande Armée. Entre l'édition bilingue et l'édition officielle, seule la fin du chapitre Position de l'armée française le soir de la bataille ne fut pas reproduite dans l'édition officielle que nous livrons ici : cette victoire en chassant l'ennemi à tout le pays compris entre la Vistule et la Passarge, et en nous rendant maîtres des bouches de la Vistule, nous met à même d'entreprendre le siège des places de Danzig, Colberg et Graudenz. Ces places sont déjà bloquées. L'armée ennemie est séparée de plus de 40 lieue de Danzig et ne peut plus communiquer que par mer. La prise de ces trois places s'en suivra probablement et ne peut plus être retardée que par le temps nécessaire pour la formation des équipages de siège. Elle met aussi au pouvoir de l'armée, le plus beau de Prusse, les immenses magasins de blé et de vins d'Elbing et les belles campagnes de l'ile de Nogat. On ne pouvait pas espérer de plus grands résultats d'une bataille donnée dans une campagne aussi rude ».Tulard, 1228.‎

‎Autograph letter sealed 'Naum' as Paris ambassador of the Imperial Ottoman, sent to 'Ottoman Foreign Ministry', on the Ottoman princes that [Abdürrahim] Muhib Pasha sent to Paris for their education.‎

‎Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript autograph letter written with a fine riq'a script signed by Naum Nimetullah Pasha as 'Paris Sefîr-i Kebîri' [i.e. Paris ambassador] of the Imperial Ottoman, addressed to 'Ottoman Foreign Ministry', on the Ottoman princes that [Abdürrahim] Muhib Pasha sent to Paris for education. Includes 12 lines. Full. 25x15,5 cm. In Ottoman script. 1 p. Sealed as 'Naum, 1314'. Dated fî 11 Rubu'üssani sene [1]326 AR = fî 22 Tesrînisânî [1]324] AH = 1908 AD. Naum Pasha, (The governor of Cebel-i Lebanon between 1892-1902; ambassador of Paris, France between 1908-1911), was an undersecretary in the Foreign Ministry of Imperial Ottoman at the time of his Lebanon appointment and enjoyed the confidence of a number of senior Ottoman statesmen. He was also a favored candidate of the Maronite Church by virtue of being the nephew and son-in-law of Franko Kusa, the second governor of the mutasarrifiyya, he was still remembered for his friendly relations with the Church. Furthermore, Naum gained the support of Mustafa Arslan by reappointing him to the district-governorship of Shuf-albeit reluctantly, under pressure from a number of Mustafa's friend in Istanbul, Damascus, and Beirut. But Naum's greatest advantage was the concurrence of his tenure with the most tranquil years of the last half-century of Ottoman history. [.] Naum served in Mount Lebanon. (Source: The Long Peace: Ottoman Lebanon, 1861-1920). Naum Pasha is of Arab Christian origin. Soon after beginning in the 'Hariciye Tahrirat Kalemi' and serving in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was appointed as the governor of Cebel-i Lebanon (1892) with the rank of vizier. During the Second Constitutional Monarchy, he served as the Minister of Public Works for a short time (3-8 August 1908). He was sent to the Paris Embassy for the second time while he was under the Undersecretariat for Foreign Affairs. He died while he was in this post.; Abdürrahim Muhib Efendi, or, pasha, was the ex-ambassador of Paris between 1806-1811 before Naum Pasha.‎

‎An einen Autographensammler: "Um nicht ganz mit leeren Händen vor ihnen zu erscheinen, lege ich Ihnen etwas Handschriftliches von Ludwig Tieck bei, nämlich das [...] Manuskript des in Num. 4 des Serapeums S. 59 fgd. abgedruckten Aufsatzes [...] Hierzulande hascht man nach Autographien von Tieck. Wollen sie nicht in das Serapeum eine Anfrage mit Angabe der Tauschobjekte rücken lassen? [...]" - Bei dem Aufsatz Tiecks handelt es sich um eine Beschreibung der seltenen Inkunabel "Los Trabajos de Hercules " (Zamora 1483) aus dem Besitz von T. O. Weigel in Leipzig. Der Text erschien in dem am 29. Februar 1840 ausgegebenen Heft. - Naumann war seit 1835 Bibliothekar der Stadtbibliothek. Er gab die erste bibliothekswissenschaftliche Fachzeitschrift Deutschlands heraus: "Serapeum - Zeitschrift für Bibliothekswissenschaft, Handschriftenkunde und ältere Literatur."‎

‎Martinique, 1897. Folio journal. French manuscript abstract of a French naval captain M. Vailhen. 55 pages in two parts. String-tied vellum boards, titled by the captain. Very slight chips to leaf edges, otherwise very good condition, a crisp and clean manuscript document with wide margins, 12 printed military diagrams pasted within, as well as several hand drawn diagrams by the captain. With the captain's signature in three places including front. Cours - Historique Succint de l'artillerie de côte et de l'artillerie navale. [Succint Dissertation on the History of Coastal Artillery and Naval Artillery] The captain's abstract on the history of naval artillery used at sea and on the coast, dated 1897, begins with the antiquitity of war as early as the thirteenth century, including the first use of gun powder and the alchemical work of Roger Bacon. A substantial portion of this work covers the progression of the canon, and its uses in several theatres of war, from the time of Louis XI, in which numerous models are named and described, and, several diagrams are discussed and annotated. Vailen's detailed study records dates of the first significant advances in the field of artillery, and continues describing structural and scientific advances to artillery employed the navy. The work comprises many specific calculations relating to gun powder, pressure, elements, fabrication, and the like. Furthermore, the captain frequently compares French and English advancements, indicative of the ongoing rivalry of the colonial period. Together with an official stamped and signed authorization for brief leave in the following year. 8vo. single leaf, dated Fort-de-France 3 August 1898. Signed and stamped by the Colonel, Senior Commander of the 6th Battery in Martinique. Also signed by the Chief Commander of Artillery, and the Commissioner. The authorization for leave, and order for transportation, indicates that a campaign had just ended, and that the captain was permitted to return to France for a vacation. He was assigned to embark a 'paquebot' or steamer which was departing the French colony of Martinique on the 10th of August 1898. The document further indicates that the officer had received his pay up to the 31st July 1898, but was evidently due remuneration up to the 24th of August upon his arrival in France. This document predates the Mount Pelé eruption of 1902 by only four years, a pivotal event which propelled Fort-de-France into commercial success. "Capitaine M. Vailhen... en second à la 6ème batterie de l'Artillerie de Marine, groupe d'Afrique et des Antilles... est ordonné... de rentrer en France pour y jouir d'un congé de fin de campagne" Cet officier s'embarquera sur le Paquebot transatlantique quittant la Colonie vers le 10 Août 1898..." Fascinating work on naval artillery with particular attention to cannons, by a knowledgeable nineteenth century French naval captain stationed in the Caribbean. All text in French.‎

‎An Maximilian Harden über den Streit zwischen der mit ihm befreundeten Schauspielerin Hermine Körner und dem Intendanten des Dresdener Hoftheaters Graf von Seebach: "[...] Zu meinem großen Bedauern ist es mir nicht möglich gewesen, den Wortlaut Ihrer Zeilen, die Sie so freundlich waren zur Ergänzung des Briefes Frau Körners an den Grafen v. Seebach zu erfinden, getreu beizubehalten [...] Ich darf Ihnen versichern [...] daß für Frau Körner Ihre Meinung in dieser Angelegenheit von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung war [...] Der Schritt, den Frau Körner jetzt getan hat, ist bitter, aber ein weiteres Verfolgen der Dinge hätte unendlich viel traurigeres und unangenehmeres hervorgerufen, ganz abgesehen davon, daß eine finanzielle Verwirrung jetzt auf das günstigste gelöst ist [...]" - Hermine Körner war in Dresden 1915 vertragsbrüchig geworden, um zu Max Reinhardt an das Deutsche Theater nach Berlin zu wechseln. Erst 1917 wurde der dadurch entstandene Streit durch einen Brief Körners an Graf Seebach beigelegt, in dem sie die von der Dresdener Generaldirektion vertretene Rechtsauffassung anerkannte.‎
