Paris: André Paulvé et les Films du Palais Royal 1950. <br /><br />A binder containing 18 gelatin silver film stills 8" x 10" of dramatic moments from Jean Cocteau's 1950 film Orphée his Symbolist/Modernist interpretation of the Greek myth of Orpheus starring Jean Marais and Juliette Gréco. With one original "lobby card" 8.75" x 10" from the film's French release in 1950. The film stills were likely printed later.<br /><br />Also included in the binder is a program 8 x 10 ¼ for a 1963 American university tour sponsored by the French government of two plays: Cocteau's Orphée as well as Jean Giraudoux's L'Apollon de Bellac. There's also a mimeographed synopsis in English of the two plays. A scarce and unusual collection of French film and theatre ephemera. <br /><br />CONDITION: The original lobby card is creased at the edges and corners with pushpin holes to the corners. Film stills in Fine condition although a couple have light creasing in corners. Program has some creases and rubbing. Overall Very Good or better. André Paulvé et les Films du Palais Royal books

Guillaume Thomas is the central character in the novel. Francis Gerard pseudonym of Gerard Rosenthal 1903-1950 was a poet and associate of Leon Trotsky. Paris: Ecole Superieure de Coimmerce de Paris 1952. Paperback. Unpaginated about forty pages 5.25x8.25 inches text in French b&w ads throughout for cabarets what to wear at a cabaret what to drink. Features a sort of frontispiece some ten leaves into the item opposite a sort of titlepage this frontis is a Cocteau drawing flautist reproduced on a yellow tint-block. It and most of the leaves here show handling-crimps. The color cover signed in plate by Sense is a bit dust-soiled with crimping and an inch-long repaired split at the tail. A good good-only copy. Some chamber of commerce! drumming up tourism after the war with Cocteau cachet! There was a collectors' edition: "Il a ete tire de ce programme 100 exemplaires sur Velin des Papeteries d'Arches dont 30 ex. nominatifs et 70 ex. numerotes de 1 a 70.
