Important ensemble contenant la reproduction de toutes les lithographies de Daumier, avec la description des différents états et tirages, soit 4000 lithographies présentées suivant l'ordre chronologique et faisant l'objet d'une notice détaillée. Cet ensemble, complet pour la partir d'Honoré Daumier correspond aux tomes 20 à 29bis de la Collection le Peintre-graveur illustré. Les dos des reliures sont frottés, les intérieurs en parfait état. Ex-libris d' Armand-Albert Rateau, dessinateur, meublier, décorateur et architecte français (1182 - 1938). Jeanne Lanvin le choisit comme décorateur pour ses boutiques ainsi que son appartement rue Babet de Jouy à Paris. Ces pièces se trouvent en partie aujourd’hui au Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris.

minimal Cover Farbe abgerissen, ansonsten tadelloser Zustand - Vorbemerkung: Der Begriff »Theater des Absurden« -- Es hat sich als schwieriger erwiesen, als es sonst bei neuen literarischen Erscheinungen der Fall ist, eine allgemein akzeptierte Sammelbezeichnung für jenen Typ von Theaterstücken zu finden, der sich seit 1950 in Frankreich durchsetzte. Daß »La cantatrice chauve« von Eugène Ionesco, »Pique-nique en campagne« von Fernando Arrabel, »En attendant Godot« von Samuel Beckett, »Le guichet« von Jean Tardieu oder »Les bâtisseurs d’empire ou Le Schmürz« von Boris Vian auf irgendeine Weise zusammengehörten, schien offensichtlich zu sein, aber Autoren, Publikum und Kritiker konnten nicht eine«, »beherrschende« und »sofortauffallende« Übereinstimmung ausmachen. Erschwerend kam hinzu, daß es sich hier um die Werke von Einzelgängern handelte, die weit davon entfernt waren, sich in literarischen Kampfgruppen zu organisieren, wo so griffige Eigenbenennungen wie »Surréalisme« entstehen konnten, die keine Manifeste verfaßten und die weitgehend unbekannt, also noch nicht gewohnheitsmäßig eingeordnet waren. So schrieb noch 1954 Lemarchand in seinem Vorwort zu »Théâtre I« von Ionesco, dies sei ein »Théâtre sans étiquette«. Wie zu erwarten, setzte darauf ein Höhenflug von Erfindungsreichtum ein, um diesem Mangel abzuhelfen. »Anti-Théâtre« wurde vorgeschlagen, um den radikalen Bruch mit der Tradition auszudrücken; »Théâtre expérimentale«: hier werde Neues ausprobiert; »Nouveau Théâtre« in Analogie zum »Nouveau Roman«; und schließlich »Théâtre de dérision«, da es sich über die allgemeinen Gewißheiten mokiere (eine vollständige und erläuterende Liste findet sich bei Jacquart). Am meisten Fortüne aber hatte die Bezeichnung »Theatre of Absurd/Theater des Absurden/ Théâtre de 1’absurde«. Dies war der Titel eines Buches von Martin Esslin, das zuerst in seiner englischsprachigen Originalausgabe, 1961, in deutscher, 1964, und - etwas weniger spektakulär - in französischer Übersetzung, 1963, ein Bestseller geworden war.
