George BARBIER (Nantes 1882-1932), peintre et illustrateur, a beaucoup travaillé pour la mode et le théâtre, composant des dessins de costumes et des décors. L'artiste a également illustré de nombreux ouvrages. Il a exposé régulièrement au Salon des Artistes Décorateurs de 1912 jusqu'à sa mort. En 1920 il participait à l'exposition du Musée des Arts Décoratifs à Paris: "La mode au XXème siècle vue par les peintres", représentant ce qu'on a nommé par la suite "l'Art Déco".
