Il volume è l'ultimo dell'edizione ed è da rilegare, ma è molto interessante poiché è quello interamente dedicato alla storia della tipografia. Oltre ai lineamenti storici contiene un repertorio analitico dei tipografi antichi, suddiviso per nazioni e, al loro interno, per località.

Oltre all'ampia parte dedicata alle origini della stampa (in cui l'Amati mette in dubbio la priorità di Gutenberg), il volume contiene una sorta di repertorio analitico dei prototipografi, suddiviso per nazioni e, al loro interno, per località: la parte sull'Italia è quasi un'anticipazione del Lexicon Typographicum del Fumagalli, con molte notizie di prima mano raccolte dall'autore nei suoi studi e nell'attività di bibliotecario. Ricordiamo anche che l'Amati pubblicò un Manuale di Bibliologia tra i primi nel suo genere. Giacinto Amati fu Conservatore della Biblioteca Ambrosiana.

Il s'agit de la réimpression de l'édition en caractères grecs majuscules de l'Anacréon que Bodoni fit paraître pour la première fois à Parme en 1784 en caractères minuscules. Il est dédié au Chevalier De Azara ambassadeur d'Espagne, devenu son conseiller et mécène. L'un des premiers chefs-d'Oeuvre de la typographie bodonienne. On consultera le numéro 28 de la revue FMR où un article : Question de Caractère est consacré à Bodoni. Ex-Libris de P. de la Morandière et de A. -G.
