In 8, cm 14,5 x 22,5, pp. (4) + 124 + (2) + 70. Mezza tela tardo ottocentesca. Brossura editoriale conservata. Terza definitiva edizione di questa rara bibliografia dedicata alla piu' importate stamperia ebraica attiva a partire dalla fine del XV secolo. A p. 121 compare un colophon che recita: Questa ristampa in 250 esemplari e' stata ultimata addi' 28 maggio 1868. Questa peraltro e' la data che compare anche al secondo frontespizio mentre a quello dell'appendice compare la data 1870, stessa data apposta al primo frontespizio. Questa famiglia di ebrei aschenaziti provenienti da Spira in Alsazia sono attestati come presenti in Italia a partire dalla fine del XIV secolo e furono nominati inizialmente proprio con il nome 'Da Spira'. Solo una volta stabilitisi a Soncino, paese presso Cremona, acquisiranno il cognome Soncini. In questo luogo inizieranno l'attivita' di stampatori pubblicando il primo libro nel 1483. Da molti sono considerati i primi stampatori di libri in ebraico al mondo e la loro attivita' viene attesta fino al 1527 con spostamenti della sede in varie citta' d'Italia (Fano, Rimini, Brescia, Casalmaggiore), Salonicco, Costantinopoli. Questo studio presenta anche un'appendice scritta da Zefirino Re con notizie storiche sulla famiglia.
