‎*Blatt aus einer Ausgabe "Horae" des Pariser Verlegers Simon Vostre mit prächtig kolorierter ganzseitiger Darstellung einer Mondsichelmadonna. Ab ca. 1498 bis ins zweite Dezenium des 16.Jahrhunderts publizierte der Verleger Simon Vostre gedruckte Stundenbücher für eine wohlhabende Oberschicht. Sie waren mit ihrer aufwendigen Drucktechnik mit vielen Metallschnitten allerdings kaum günstiger als ihre handgemalten Pendants, so dass "der Metallschnitt sich neben dem Holzschnitt nicht recht durchsetzen konnte" (Mazal, Buchkunst Gotik, 132). - Sauber und gut erhalten.‎

‎Edition originale ; cet opuscule fut publié par Alfred Delvau, Alphonse Daudet, Jean du Boys, Paul Arène et Jules Renard, en parodie du mouvement Parnassien, fondé par Catulle Mendes, en opposition avec le romantisme, et qui venait de publier le “Parnasse contemporain” chez Lemerre, lui-même parodié par l’éditeur “J. Lemer”. L’eau-forte, qui représente une femme nue, ivre de narguilé, avec un chat noir et une inscription grecque “La muse (Ailowiki)” est décrite dans “L’Hôtel du Dragon bleu”, satire des Parnassiens qui ont besoin d’opium ou de haschich pour avoir de l’inspiration et qui cultivent un goût prononcé pour l’exotisme. Quelques rares petites rousseurs pour cet opuscule tiré à petit nombre, dans une reliure aussi curieuse que l’ouvrage et l’eau-forte.‎

‎<p> Pope Gregory has been eulogized as "one of the most notable figures in Ecclesiastical History. He has exercised in many respects a momentous influence on the doctrine the organization and the discipline of the Catholic Church. To him we must look for an explanation of the religious situation of the Middle Ages: indeed if no account were taken of his work the evolution of the form of mediaeval Christianity would be almost inexplicable. And further in so far as the modern Catholic system is a legitimate development of mediaeval Catholicism of this too Gregory may not unreasonably be termed the Father. Almost all the leading principles of the later Catholicism are found at any rate in germ in Gregory the Great." Dudden Gregory the Great I p. v His Homilies on the Gospels were a series of instructions made to the faithful on the chief texts of the Gospels read in church throughout the liturgical year. These forty sermons first preached in 591-92 at the beginning of his papacy were extremely popular and were among the most widely read and highly venerated texts of the Middle Ages. Some 400 medieval manuscripts of the homilies survive and they were frequently printed beginning in 1473. Because Gregory illustrated dogma with numerous examples drawn from life the text contains significant anecdotes regarding Gregory himself and contemporary events at a trying time when Rome and Italy were subjected to flooding pestilence Lombard invasions and the death of Pope Pelagius II. ‎Reliure plein vélin ivoire de l'époque à coutures apparentes (vélin hollandais). Reste de titre à l'encre au dos (presque effacé). Légers frottements. Exemplaire frais, non restauré. Papier de qualité plus ou moins médiocre selon les tomes, parfois uniformément teinté. Collationné complet. Ce recueil est extrêment rare selon les différentes sources consultées. Sa mise en oeuvre semble hératique (nom d'éditeurn, dates et mention d'édition assez fantaisistes). Il semble pourtant que ce soit tout ce qui a paru de cet ensemble composé de chansons bacchiques, lestes et gaillardes. On lit dans le catalogue de livres provenant de la bibliotheque de monsieur Leroux de Lincy, n°225 (vélin, même collation) : "Recueil extrêmement rare, dans lequel on trouve un certain nombre de chansons relatives au règne de Louis XIV (vendu 58 francs à la vente Silvestre en 1845, ex. relié vélin comme le nôtre). "Il s'y trouve un grand nombre de couplets hostiles à Louis XIV". On trouve un autre recueil quasi identique à la date de 1688, est-le même ? Et un autre en 12 parties datées de 1696, qui ne semble pas être le même que notre exemplaire. On lit par ailleurs dans le catalogue de la bibliothèque de monsieur Cigongne à propros d'un exemplaire identique au nôtre : "Tome I. 3è édition (6 parties intitulées t. I à VI, et 1ère partie d'un 2ème volume, datée de 1690). Sur l'imprimé à Paris (Hollande), 1691. Petit in-12. maroquin olive par Trautz-Bauzonnet (n°1228 du catalogue Cigongne), avec ce commentaire : "On croit que c'est tout ce qui a paru de ce recueil.".‎

‎On y trouve des pièces en vers qu'on ne trouve pas ailleurs dans les autres recueils du même genre. Quelques chansons sont en flamand et d'autres en gascon. Elles n'ont pas de titre pour la plupart, on y donne juste l'air sur lequel il fallait les chanter. On ne sait pas sur quel air il fallait chanter ce petit couplet : Mon mari j'ai résolu De vous faire cornette Au régiment des cocus Car si jamais il en fut Vous l'êtes, vous l'êtes, vous l'êtes. ou encore cette chanson bacchique : Sans le secours de la bouteille, L'on passerait mal ses jours, Toutes les douceurs des amours, N'ont point de charme qui réveille, Un amant n'est jamais content, Un buveur est toujours content. et encore un peu plus leste : Margot et son gros fessier Font un concert magnifique ; Son voisin le Savetier Se pâme à cette musique : Tous deux chantent nuit et jour, Sans note blanche ni noire : Margot chante un air de cour, Et son cul un air à boire. Enfin citons cet air nouveau sur l'air de J'avais cent francs etc. Passons le temps, Auprès de nos maîtresses, Caressons les sans cesse, Vivons contents : Un tendre amant Doit être complaisant Sans être un inconstant, Un tendre amant Doit aimer sa maîtresse, Et la baiser souvent. De la plus grande rareté dans cette condition. La plupart des grands bibliophiles du XIXe siècle ne possédaient pas ce recueil (ou en reliure neuve du XIXe siècle). Aucun exemplaire dans Morgand (Bulletin de la librairie Morgand et Fatout, 1876-1904). Aucun exemplaire dans la bibliothèque de Viollet-le-Duc. Egalement absent des bibliothèques Rothschild, Lachèvre, etc. Il n'y a actuellement aucun exemplaire à la vente. Provenance : il est possible que notre exemplaire, relié en vélin d'époque, soit l'exemplaire provenance de la bibliothèque de monsieur Méon (n°1915, vente de novembre 1803, catalogue des livres précieux, singuliers et rares, chez Bleuet jeune). Ce même exemplaire est encore sans doute le même qui a passé ensuite dans la bibliothèque de monsieur George Buchanan (n°475, vente de 1849 par la Maison Silvestre par L. Potier). Exemplaire passé ensuite dans la bibliothèque de Leroux de Lincy (n°225, vente de 1865, vendu 58 francs). Il n'y a cependant aucune provenance attestée dans l'exemplaire. Très bon exemplaire en condition d'époque (vélin hollandais).‎

‎Edition originale publiée anonymement en 1943 et antidatée. Tirage unique à 63 exemplaires. Un des 40 sur vélin crème du Marais, celui-ci enrichit d'uneNOTE AUTOGRAPHE signée et datée du 20 avril 1964, dans laquelle Hugnet explique les circonstances de l'édition de la plaquette : « Seuls, quelques exemplaires de cet ouvrage, édité par moi en 1943, ont été numérotés à la main, ce travail ayant été interrompu par une indésirable visite des autorités d'occupation et jamais repris par la suite ». Il dévoile également le nom de l'auteur et ajoute qu'il possède le manuscrit du texte. Très bon 0‎
