Universal City CA: Universal Pictures 1945. Original treatment titled "Characters and Premise" and complete set of continuities for the 1945 13-episode film serial including a continuity for the trailer constituting a virtually complete record. Hammett debuted his Nazi-fighting agent in 1934 in comic book form with artwork by the legendary Alex Raymond. A film adaptation was made by Universal in 1937 and this serial starring Lloyd Bridges was produced in 1945. Neither the film or serial version are noted in the film appendix of Layman's Hammett bibliography. Any original paper relating to serials is extremely uncommon; a complete set such as this rare. Each document in white studio self-wrappers with the treatement side-stapled and dated January 4 1945 the trailer and episode continuities top-stapled and dated between June 6 1945 and August 16 1945. <br/><br/>Treatment is 16 pages each of the fourteen continuities represent two reels each and run 16-18 pages each and the trailer continuity is 5 pages. All mimeograph duplication Very Good plus condition each with two blank leaves at the rear a few terminal blanks loose from staples a couple of short edge tears all leaves supple and clean. Universal City: Universal Studios 1990. Early First Draft script for the 2008 film dated 1990 from screenwriter Robin Swicord. Swicord who received a joint Story credit with screenwriter Eric Roth in the film's final release was first hired by Columbia Pictures to adapt Fitzgerald's short story as early as 1985 by 1989 the project moved to Universal Studios with producer Ray Stark holding the rights who is credited on this draft. It wasn't until 2003 that credited screenwriter Eric Roth would be brought on to adapt Swicord's screenplay with Gary Ross reported to direct . Paramount who developed a joint co-production with Universal for the project in 1999 announced David Fincher as director in 2005. Between 1990 and 2003 various directors screenwriters and actors were reported attached to the project including Frank Oz Martin Short Agnieszka Holland Daniel Day-Lewis Phil Alden Robinson Steven Spielberg Tom Cruise Spike Jonze Charlie Kaufman and Ron Howard.<br/><br/>Based on the 1922 short story by F. Scott Fizgerald.<br/><br/>David Fincher's melancholic and surprisingly heart-warming saga of the life of a man Brad Pitt who is born old and ages in reverse and the woman who he was always destined to love Daisy Cate Blanchett. Featuring remarkable visual effects deftly executed by Fincher.<br/><br/>Winner of three Academy Awards nominated for ten others including Best Picture Best Director Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress.<br/><br/>Red untitled wrappers. Copy number "29" in holograph marker on title page.<br/><br/>This early First Draft was written by screenwriter Philip Levene best known for his screenwriting and consultant work on the television series "The Avengers" from 1965 to 1968. Levene did not receive screen credit on the 1972 release. <br/><br/>Bette Davis is Madame Sin a sinister villain hiding in a Scottish castle intent on world domination who kidnaps ex-CIA agent Anthony Lawrence played by Robert Wagner forcing him to help her hijack a Polaris submarine to attain a secret nuclear weapon. One of many films cashing on the popularity of the then-new James Bond films originally intended as a television pilot but released as a feature film.<br/><br/>Shot on location in Berkshire and Piccadilly in London and Argyll and Bute in Scotland.<br/><br/>Red untitled wrappers with die-cut title window in the British style. Title page present noted as FIRST DRAFT with credits for screenwriter Philip Levene and creator Lou Morheim. 136 leaves with last page of text numbered 135. Mimeograph duplication rectos only.
