Duranty est le pseudonyme,(choisi par sa mère)de l'enfant illégitime Edmond Anthoine (1833-1880).Le 29 juillet 1860, on pouvait lire dans la chronique du Figaro,Paris au jour le jour:"Un écrivain réaliste,M.Duranty,a obtenu l'autorisation d'établir un théâtre de Marionnettes dans le jardin des Tuileries.Les décors sont de M. Gustave Courbet,la pièce d'ouverture est de M.Champfleury et s'intitule Les Amours de Sainte-Périne,ou Catarrhe et Clystère. Inutile de préciser que la mise en scène sera pleine de pompe.La Revue Anecdotique crut bon de rajouter à ces commentaires que c'était bien la première fois que l'on tentait ainsi d'introduire sérieusement en France des Marionnettes spectacle pourtant si populaire en Italie.
