The first edition in book form first issue with the following issue points: page 1 lines 1 and 2 "tower" for "town": page 4 line 23 no punctuation after "clergy"; page 10 line 5 no punctuation after "it"; page 28 4 lines up "it s" for "its"; page 47 line 17 of Chapter 8 large full stop after "no"; page 74 line 18 no quotation mark before "past"; page 100 final line "u" is printed high to the line; page 131 line 1 "sentiment" for "sentence"; page 149 9 lines up "years" for "yours"; page 169 line 26 "very" only partially printed.One leaf of adverts to the rear. Illustrated with a frontispiece engraved title and twelve plates by S. L. Fildes. Collated complete.'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' was Dickens' final work left unfinished upon his death in June 1870 - of the twelve instalments planned only these six had been written. As Dickens hadn't left a clear or detailed plan as to the continuation or resolution of the plot the 'Mystery' was left unsolved.Charles Dickens is possibly the most well-known Victorian author with his fifteen novels still being widely read and performed as well as being studied in school and enjoyed by people of all ages. In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally generally smart a little rubbed. Spine is faded. Loss to the tail of the rear joint and to the head of the front joint. A few light marks to the boards. Extremities are a little faded. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only the occasional scattered spot.
