In what appears to be original 3/4 leather with marbled boards paneled spine with gilt and black label title gilt just legible some chipping at spine top normal wear and rubbing to boards and corners. Interior plates are quite foxed which is not unusual. Two of the plates have been hand coloured one of them amateurishly a number of the plates are in the wrong spot and a few have edges repaired not affecting the print. The vignette half title is also missing Text is a bit browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. A not perfect copy but still handsome and readable. Part V has the important twelve line errata slip present. Part IX page 284 5th and 6th line up with "Delight" for "Joy." Part XI page 324 last line "Captain" is misspelled "Capatin." Part XIII has the earliest state of the Advertiser with the date "October 1847" printed without error. Part XIX/XX the title page erroneously shows Captain Cuttle's hook on his left hand.
