Published by Bell Signes is the continuation of Croquis magazine launched in 1942 by the publisher. The magazine was produced under the direction of Geneviève Perreau.The cover is a composition by Valentine Hugo. This issue features illustrations by René Gruau and Pierre Mourgue and photographs by Pierre Kefer. An article on the exhibition "Le Théâtre de la Mode illustré de photographies" is illustrated with photographs by Robert Doisneau.Many models from major fashion houses are reproduced including Balenciaga Lanvin Paquin Worth Lelong Patou Rochas Schiaparelli and others.Valentine Gross met her future husband Jean Hugo grandson of the influential French author Victor Hugo in 1917 at the home of Mimi and Cypa Godebski. In 1919 they were married with Cocteau and Satie as their only witnesses. Neither of Jean's parents consented to the marriage perhaps contributing to its eventual demise.In March of 1926 Valentine attended one of the first Surrealist expositions where she met Paul Éluard. Their meeting sparked a friendship that would continue until his death in 1952. In 1927 after working as costume designer on the set of La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc Valentine returned to Paris a full-fledged Surrealist; Jean Hugo however never embraced the Surrealist movement. In the years following their hurried nuptials their tastes diverged leading to separation in 1929 and finally divorce in 1932. Despite the end of their marital relations Valentine and Jean remained friends until her death in 1968.Provenance: Pierre Spivakoff 1933-2012…Après des études au Cours Simon Pierre Spivakoff crée à Paris le tout premier café-théâtre « Le Royal » situé boulevard Raspail où il met en scène des pièces de Fey¬deau Ionesco Dumas Rachilde Molière et Corneille. Le spectacle représentera la France dans de nom¬breux Festivals européens Rome Belgrade Berlin… et se prolongera à la comédie des Champs-Elysées durant toute l’année 1974. Habité par la divine Sarah Il est l’auteur du livre « Sarah Bernhardt vue par les Nadar » éditions Herscher 1997. Par ailleurs il monte « L’Homme aux camélias » au Théâtre La Bruyère ou « Monsieur Vénus » au Théâtre des Mathurins. Également metteur en scène et professeur d’art dramatique il dirigera de très nombreux acteurs avant d’ouvrir une classe de théâtre à l’American Center aventure qui durera plus de 10 ans. Comprises of an overview of the developing Canadian co-operative movement its agricultural Western-Canadian genesis its social and economic raison d'être and the challenge it posed to the existing political and economic order in the Dominion. The author urges for the continued theoretical philosophical and practical development of the co-operative movement by urging readers to reinforce their knowledge with a proposed list of historical political and economic texts. Bright clean and unmarked with firm stapled binding. Highly uncommon early Canadian co-operative movement pamphlet with no known Canadian institutional holdings at time of cataloguing. Corresponds to OCLC #44628585 indicating only two American institutional holdings. Not found in Peel BAC/LAC University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections et al. Weinrich 1235. <br/><br/>"Born at Newcastle-on-Tyne England around 1875 he was a telegraph operator for the North Eastern Railway. In 1897 he took part in the organization of telegraph operators and was elected the first President of an association created that year. He came to Canada in 1904 with his wife and their two children and farmed near Brandon until 1905 when he was appointed an accountant in the Canadian Pacific Railway district superintendents office at Brandon. Transferred to Saskatoon in 1908 he remained there until 1911 when he joined the editorial staff of the Saskatoon Phoenix. During the First World War he served on the Returned Soldiers Employment Bureau and was Secretary of the Returned Soldiers Welcome and Aid League at Saskatoon. In 1918 he returned to farming on his own farm near Hanley Saskatchewan and joined the Saskatchewan Grain Growers Association in 1919 returning that year to the Saskatoon Phoenix as its editor. In 1920 he returned to Winnipeg to become Associate Editor for the Grain Growers Guide 1920-1925. In September 1925 he was put in charge of publicity for the newly-formed Manitoba Wheat Pool and was Editor of its official organ The Scoop Shovel predecessor of Manitoba Co-operator. He also served as secretary of the Manitoba Co-operative conference. In 1936 when the Manitoba Co-operator was discontinued and The Western Producer became the official journal of the co-operative movement in Manitoba he became its Editor serving until retirement in 1947." Vintage screening invitation for the 1980 film illustrated by Ralph Steadman on the recto with film credits on the verso.<br /> <br /> More than a little loosely based on Hunter S. Thompson's obituary for his closest associate Oscar Zeta Acosta a.k.a. Dr. Gonzo "The Banshee Screams for Buffalo Meat" which appeared in October 1977 issue of "Rolling Stone." <br /> <br /> A film that despite being an unholy mess represents in retrospect an intersection of ideas and talent as well as the first of many messy attempts to commit to celluloid the basically un-filmable life and work of Hunter S. Thompson. <br /> <br /> Bill Murray at this time little more than a droll comedic sensation arguably made the first step toward becoming the four-dimensional icon he is today though not necessarily by intention. Both Murray and Thompson had serious concerns about the quality of Kaye's script and at the beginning of filming both Thompson and Ralph Steadman came onto the set as "executive consultants." Though the author says he did little other than "wander around and fire machine guns" his influence on Murray was profound. The actor became obsessed with his idol and by all accounts became one with him. During production Murray and Thompson engaged in a series of dangerous one-upmanship contests including a Houdini-inspired stunt where Thompson tied Murray to a chair and threw him into a swimming pool. Murray nearly drowned before Thompson pulled him out. The pair's obsession with the film's poor script and continuity led to a hasty final addition of a voice-over narration and two explanatory scenes at the film's end. Three days prior to release a press screening was canceled because the film was still being edited. <br /> <br /> When Murray returned to the Saturday Night Live set in the fall of 1980 he was still immersed in character complete with long black cigarette holder dark glasses and nasty habits. One of the show's writers said that Murray .".was not Bill Murray he was Hunter Thompson. You couldn't talk to him without talking to Hunter Thompson." Beverly Hills CA: United Artists 1967. Collection of 20 reference photographs from the 1967 film 17 borderless one being doubleweight. Two with two mimeo snipes on verso with the additional snipe announcing the film's exclusive engagement at Grauman's Chinese Theatre opening June 14. Seven photographs with rubber stamps on verso for variously "You Only Live Twice" "United Artists" Spanish "Ministerio de Informacion y Tourismo" dated "28 JUL 1967" "Movie Still Archives" "Carlos Clarens" Collection and "Cherokee Book Shop." <br/><br/>Loosely based on the 1964 novel by Ian Fleming the first in the franchise to bear little likeness to its source novel. The fifth in the Bond franchise preceded by "Thunderball" 1965 and followed by "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" 1969.<br/><br/>Bond Sean Connery with the help of the Japanese Secret Service must uncover what happened to Soviet and American spacecrafts before the tensions bring the superpowers to war. Featuring the archvillian Blofeld Donald Pleasence as the head of the terrorist organization SPECTRE.<br/><br/>During filming it was announced Connery would retire from the role. In the next in the series "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" 1969 Bond is played by then unknown George Lazenby. Connery did subsequently return for the following Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever" 1971 before Roger Moore took over the role. Specially bound copy belonging to producer Jerry Wald with his name in gilt on the spine. 12 reference photographs from the film bound in variously among the script pages.<br /> <br /> Jerry Wald is best remembered for his long and successful association with Warner Brothers as both a screenwriter and producer of a number of notable films including "Mildred Pierce" 1945 "Humoresque" 1946 "Key Largo" 1948 and "Flamingo Road" 1949. In the 1950s he moved to Twentieth Century-Fox and was the producer there for "An Affair to Remember" 1957 "Peyton Place" 1957 and "Sons and Lovers" 1960.<br /> <br /> While visiting Poland on a business trip an American antiques dealer falls in love with a handsome count and she eventually moves to Poland to marry him. Their romance grows complicated however as World War II looms over the country. <br /> <br /> Bound in beige cloth with tan quarter leather binding with five raised bands and gilt titles on the spine. Title page present undated with credits for screenwriter Ellis St. Joseph director Vincent Sherman and producer Jerry Wald. 157 leaves with last page of text numbered 138. Carbon typescript master clean with just a handful of typeovers throughout.<br /> <br /> Based on the true account of serial killer Billy Cook. Gilbert and Roy Lovejoy and O'Brien are two buddies on a fishing trip who stop to pick up a hitchhiker named Emmett Talman whom they learn is an escaped serial killer. To make things more daunting Emmett informs the buddies of their impending death carried out once they reach Mexico.<br /> <br /> This early draft of the script precedes shooting-which began on June 24 1952-by nearly three months and includes a bookend context at the beginning and end of the story wherein we are introduced to the home lives and problems of the film's two protagonists. The final film takes a more minimal approach wherein these bookends are removed and the story begins simply with the two men on a vacation together in the mountains of the California.<br /> <br /> Shot on location in California. One of Lupino's final and best known directorial credits followed the same year by "The Bigamist" 1953 and finally "The Trouble with Angels" 1966. <br /> <br /> Tan titled wrappers noted as REVISED FINAL SCRIPT on the front wrapper dated 4/9/52 stamped production number 1785 at the top right corner with credits for screenwriters Lupino and Young.
