Bifolium approx. 10½" x 7½" text in English on page 1 text in Chinese on p. 4; pages 2-3 are blank; previous folds a few slight wrinkles; in all very good and clean. An introductory letter by Y. S. Lin a Chinese student attending Keiogijiku University in Japan introduces ten "Rules for Daily Conduct": "To All my Brethern - I have been staying in Japan for a long time. Frequently I should like to write you something which is of the most importance for us in life . Happily I am attending Keiogijiku University now and our foreign teacher of English gave his classes as something worth remembering the following ten rules which were drawn up by Mr. Munesue Director of Communications for the guidance of the staff under him. As I considered them I was very deeply impressed. I am sure they are the cream of life the mother of success; for if we really heed them in our early life we can build the noblest character and manhood." Following Lin's introductory letter are the ten rules 1. 'Work earnestly and soberly with all your might' etc. A Chinese version of the letter and the text are on p. 4. Lin also notes: "There are two copies one in Japanese and one in English. I chose English as being most available." The essence being perhaps that there is another version of this in Japanese. Third Draft script for the 1957 British film copy belonging to Art Director George Provis with his name written on the titled label on the front wrapper with manuscript pencil and ink annotations throughout including rough pencil prop and set sketches on the versos of eight pages. Here under the working title "A Novel Affair" which was used as the title for the US release of the film.<br /> <br /> Laid in are over 30 production documents including: 17 pages of handwritten Prop Lists eleven dated from May to July 1956. Two pages of rough pencil sketches including several story boards with two film clippings attached by paperclip each containing 3 full frames. Three letters to Provis two autograph letters signed dating from May and June 1956 and one typed letter signed from February 1956. As well as Shooting Schedules Set Lists Locations lists and additional Prop Lists. <br /> <br /> George Provis was a British Art Director and Production Designer who began his career working on quota quickies low budget features made to comply with Britain's Cinematograph Films Act of 1927 in the 1930s. After the Second World War Provis was appointed by British film producer Sydney Box to head the art department at Gainsborough Pictures and is credited on over 120 films.<br /> <br /> Novelist Judith Wynter Margaret Leighton gets inspiration for her new novel when her wheelchair-bound husband Ralph Richardson hires a new Italian chauffeur CarloCarlo Giustini. When Carlo reads her lurid tale of adultery and murder the husband mistakenly concludes that she is actually madly in love with Carlo.<br /> <br /> Green generic file wrappers with a title label noted as 3rd Draft Screenplay on the title label dated 23-4-1956. Title page present noted as Third Draft of Screenplay with credits for screenwriters Muriel and Sydney Box. 97 leaves with last page of text numbered 96. Mimeograph duplication rectos only. The publication is an issue of the of the promotional supplement to the German weekly Illustrierter Film-Kurier promoting director F.W. Murnau's acclaimed final feature film "Tabu". The booklet is profusely illustrated throughout with photogravure images and photomontage depicting scenes and characters from the film. A work of a docufiction co-produced with famed documentary pioneer Robert J. Flaherty this silent film depicts the lives of two native Polynesians and their forbidden love affair in the South Pacific. Independently produced by Murnau and Flaherty the film was eventually released by Paramount Pictures. Cinematographer Floyd Crosby won an Academy Award for his work on the film. Text throughout including cast credits in German. <br /> <br /> Wrappers with some light rubbing to corners and along edges. Minor chipping to some corners. One of the non-prosecuted films included in the "Video Nasties" list a collection of video cassette releases distributed in the United Kingdom in the 1980s that were criticized for their violent content by social commentators religious organizations and the press. The list is composed of over 70 films 39 prosecuted 33 non-prosecuted but Video Nasties would inevitably become an antiquated genre. <br/><br/>Red titled wrappers.
