Publisher's full gray blocked cloth gilt and black lettering and decoration on spine and cover top edge black. Illustrated with 24 photographs facsimilies and reproductions. Mary Desti Dempsey 1871-1931 left Chicago for Paris in 1901 with her then year-old son Preston Sturges. In Paris she met and formed a life-long friendship with dancer and choreographer Isadora Duncan. Desti who adopted this name because it sounded like d'Este undertook various enterprises in Europe including a cosmetic business. She frequently accompanied Duncan in her travels and occasionally Duncan lived with her. Duncan was staying with Desti in Nice at the time of her sudden death in an automobile accident on September 14 1927. Following Duncan's death Desti a casual writer of both fiction and non-fiction wrote a Duncan biography The Untold Story: The Life of Isadora Duncan New York: Liveright 1929. Isadora Duncan's autobiography My Life New York: Liveright 1927 recorded events through 1921 prior to the period when she opened a dance school in Moscow. Desti intended to tell the rest of the story. . Spine very lightly sunned unmarked tight square and clean. Nell’intento di colmare parzialmente questo vacuum esegetico, il presente lavoro offre un puntuale e aggiornato commento, corredato di testo critico e di traduzione italiana, di tre finali aristofanei particolarmente controversi: il finale dei Cavalieri (vv. 1316-1408) , che sin dall’Ottocento si è imposto all’attenzione della critica soprattutto per la sua riconosciuta atipicità in rapporto alle altre chiuse aristofanee pervenute, come anche per la sua apparente estemporaneità ed incoerenza rispetto al resto della trama; il dibattutissimo finale delle seconde Nuvole (vv. 1476-1510/11) , una delle sezioni sottoposte a revisione da Aristofane quando si risolse a rimaneggiare il testo messo in scena nel 423 a. C. , in cui si sono spesso rintracciate singolari anomalie sceniche tali da metterne in dubbio l’effettiva rappresentabilità entro le convenzioni vigenti nel teatro del V secolo a. Scenes 9-13 and the Set Piece were published by Redington from 73 Hoxton Street formerly called 208 Hoxton Old Town. First sheet faintly browned 1 or 2 pale fox spots to margins of a couple of plates tiny amount of loss to lower right corner of Scene No.9 through erosion just very slightly affecting the edge of the image corner see image same damage to upper left corner of Scene No.10 and to left margin of Scene No.11 but not affecting images a couple of pale fox spots to upper cover of booklet vertical dusty mark on pages 11 and 14 no loss of legibility. A very good plus complete set of sheets and with rare booklet. The play by G. Almar after Dickens was first performed in 1838 at the Surrey and a juvenile drama version of it was issued by Redington before Pollock acquired his business from Redington in 1876.
