‎Première édition de cette nouvelle version (le roman avait été publié pour la première fois en 1829 dans une traduction de Crapelet). Le Roman du châtelain de Coucy et de la dame du Fayel forme le premier roman biographique en langue d'oïl ; il comprend 8 265 vers, octosyllabes à rimes plates en majorité, et fut composé en picard à la fin du XIIIe siècle ou au tout début du XIVe (certainement après 1285) par un poète qui cache son nom sous un engin dans la conclusion de son poème.
