The minor exception to the condition is that the later pages of the book have a 1 cm. water stain at the top edge which is hardly visible with in the context of the brown from the modestly acidified pages. The water stain is most noticeable if you stare at the outside edge of the pages with the book closed but that is no way to use a book. The beautiful outside cover is also totally unaffected by the water stain. The classic novel of the ubiquitous Captain Nemo and his vessel the Nautilus. No date - c 1910. Volume I 253pp; Volume II 256pp. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the edges of the boards and corners. Presentation book plate to the front board from a school. A b/w frontispiece illustrated both volumes. Slight split of 2 cm from the head of the spine to the front inner hinge. Further splitting between the title page and contents page leaving the front board slightly shaken. Slight splitting to the rear inner hinge though the board firmly attached. The very corners of a several pages have slightly been turned leaving neat creases. Slight foxing to the front and rear end paper and paste down. Red cloth cover with a clean FINE full color pastedown illustrating Nemo standing on the Nautilus with a sextant. Hinges are just a bit shaken ends have some shelf wear and the endpages are lightly soiled; light tone throughout text. The dust jacket is just fair; large missing portion from spine including title to back panel which takes a bite of authors from the series listings. The front panel replicates the book cover and is heavily creased. Now in a mylar cover; title addhered to mylar. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall . Scribner & Son hardcover
