Bright gilt on the front cover and spine. Cloth tears at the cover corners. Cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Crack at rear hinge between the end paper and pastedown. The text pages are in nice condition - lightly age-toned and mostly clean with only an occasional light foxing spot and smudge found here and there; pages 142/143 each have a tanned outline of what appears to be a slip of paper that had been left between them that covers about half of the pages. "No 99" written in old ink handwriting at the top-left corner of the front pastedown. There is an inscription written in ink dated 1879 on the front end paper.
