Scarce first edition of this first comprehensive study on the Pechenegs or Patzinaks, that were a semi-nomadic Turkic people from Central Asia speaking the Pecheneg language which belonged to the Oghuz branch of the Turkic linguistic family. Orkun was a Turkish historian and linguist. He has published numerous works on the history of the Turkish/ Turkic peoples, Turanism and Turkism. Having shown up at the stage of history since the VIth century Uyghur Turks gained their independence by putting an end to Kokturk rule in 744 A.D and established the Uyghur State (744-840 AD). Kutluk Bilge Kul Khagan is the first ruler of the Uyghur State whose capital city was Ordu-Balik. The Otuken (Steppe) Uyghur State was forced to disintegrate in 840 A.D with the siege of Ordu-Balik (Karabalgasun) by the Kirgizs and resulted in migrations to various places. One group of the Uyghurs who were forced to migrate arrived in northwestern China, established the Kansu Uyghur State and another group headed to the west and founded the Turfan Uyghur State where today's Eastern Turkestan is located. Several prosaic and poetic literary works that are produced in Old Uyghur Turkish between the IXth and XIth centuries of the history of Turkish language were written mainly about four religions. Those works belonging to the circle of Manicheism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam are classified under literary genres such as: kosuk, sudur, çatik, vinaya, abidarma. Tis texts is one of Buddhist peritexts, namely the Story of Prince Kalyanamkara and Papamkara in which the story of Buddha was embellished by extra-ordinary, fabulous events and is written in the form of "çatik". This manuscipt is preserved by the registration number Pelliot Chinois 3509 in Paris Bibliotheque Nationale. Being written in Old Uyghur Turkish, this text consists of 40 sheets some pages containing 7 lines and others containing 8 lines. Supposedly written in the 10th century, the manuscript has more than ten versions in four languages such as: Chinese, Sanskrit, Tibetan and Turkish. The first academic work on the manuscipt was done by Clement Huart in 1914. Having considered the work as deficient and erroneous, Paul Pelliot re-published the worked in the same year. Illustrated with numerous photographs or lithographs of the texts, provided with numerous annotations, it reproduces, for the essentials, the interpretations and translations of Thomsen, Radloff, Ramstedt, Samoilovitch, Le Coq, and Maloff, while quite often adding hypotheses specific to the editor and which were generally suggested to him by reading Kasgari. The difficult problems concerning the ancient inscriptions are far from being all elucidated: This edition, as useful as it is, cannot therefore be considered as definitive, and it will take a long time before "the eternal stone" has give all his secrets. The fact remains that by publishing reproductions of almost all the texts and by collecting the documentation of the best publications, the editor has done great service to Paleo-Turkish epigraphic studies. Despite its imperfections, the glossary that constitutes fourth volume is very useful. First Edition. Rare.

After leaving al-Andalus for the Near East, and taught Arabic language and literature in Aleppo and Hamat, before eventually settled in Damascus, where he began the most productive period of his life. He was a senior master at the Adiliyya Madrasa. His reputation in Arabic literature was cemented by his al-Khulasa al-alfiyya (known also as simply Alfiya), a versification of Arabic grammar, for which at least 43 commentaries have been written. Alfiya is a rhymed book of Arabic grammar written by Ibn Malik in the 13th century. The long title is al-Khulasa al-alfiyya. At least 43 commentaries have been written on this work, which was one of two major foundations of a beginner's education in Arab societies until the 20th century. In the 20th century, religious educational systems began to be replaced by colonial ones (such as the French schools in Morocco).
