La seconda parte dell’opera annunciata nella lettera al lettore uscirà solo nel 1809. L’opera, qui in edizione originale e in forma organica, fu il frutto di alcuni studi e ricerche che Beccaria pubblicò sul la rivista il “Caffè”, e che avevano come oggetto la libertà dello stile dall’autorità della tradizione letteraria. Commentario dizionario italiano della moda
Legatura in mezza pelle con titolo e nervi al dorso; pp. XIII, (2), 465, (5). Cesare Meano (1899-1957) fu un poligrafo torinese: poeta, romanziere, giornalista e regista, negli anni Trenta venne incaricato dall’Ente Nazionale della Moda di compilare un “Dizionario Commentario della Moda”. L’Ente era stato istituito a Torino per Regio decreto con lo scopo espresso di sostenere la moda italiana e contrastare l’affermarsi di quella francese: il dizionario era stato progettato allo scopo fra l’altro di epurare dal linguaggio della moda tutti i termini stranieri. Qui lo smoking è definito dunque “giacchetta da sera”, il tailleur “completo a giacca” ecc. Questa del ’36 è la prima edizione, che sarebbe stata ristampata più volte fino al 1938, anno in cui il libro viene premiato con l’Encomio Solenne della Regia Accademia d’Italia. Cesare Meano was a writer from Turin (journalist, poet and also tv director): after 1930 he was committed to realize this Dictionnary by the Italian “Ente Nazionale per la Moda”. This organization was meant by fascist Government to wipe out from fashion terminology all of the english and french terms. This is the first edition, reprinted many times until the book was awarded by the Royal Academy of Italy.

In -8°, pp. (4), 336, 158, 107, (3); piena pergamena con titolo manoscritto al dorso. Popma è teorico della sinonimia, fra i più citati nella prima edizione del Dizionario dei sinonimi del Tommaseo (1830), che fa riferimento proprio al “De differentiis verborum”. Popma was a theoric of synonyms, one of the first scholars facing this question.

In -4°, pp. Cb, 25, 3 pp. bb., cartonato con tassello al dorso che racchiude la brossura editoriale. Sulla falsariga delle proposte cinquecentesche del Trissino, il marchese Luigi Malaspina di Sannazzaro pubblica questo curioso volume in cui si propone un sistema per evitare l’ambiguità nei casi in cui un grafema esprima più di un fonema (C, G, E, etc.). L’opera, discorsiva, comprende alla fine due tavole in cui si vuole normalizzare l’accento di E e O nelle voci ambigue e alla fine una lettera esemplificante, di Annibal Caro, in cui lo stesso testo viene rappresentato coll’alfabeto corrente e quello proposto (la lettera diventa di “Annibal Karo”, per esempio). Raro (due copie in Iccu) e curioso. A XIX century project to reform the Italian Alphabet.

Bibliotecario vaticano e consigliere di Clemente XII, Giovanni Gaetano Bottari (1689-1775) è autore di diversi trattati sull’arte: in questi “dialoghi” critica il ruolo dei collezionisti che “capiscono poco d’arte”. Fra i redattori del Vocabolario della Crusca del ’41 fu tra i principali animatori del dibattito linguistico a lui contemporaneo.
