‎La première édition de ce dictionnaire, plein d'humour, d'ironie et de mordant, a paru en 1718, puis il fut réédité au moins à sept reprises jusqu'au début du XIXe siècle, avec des augmentations et modifications. On sait peu de choses sur P.J. Le Roux, si non qu'il dû se réfugier en Hollande après la publication d'un pamphlet contre le Père Lachaize. L'auteur s'est "inspiré du dictionnaire de RICHELET et du Dictionnaire des proverbes françois de Georges DE BACKER, Sous un titre alambiqué, ce dictionnaire se révèle être un recueil de proverbes par mots-clés, dexpressions populaires, de mots rares voire archaïques, et dargot parisien. Les mots à sonorité insolite font lobjet de la part de lauteur dune analyse sémantique très personnelle. Les articles ne se rattachent pas toujours à une veine comique ou satirique, mais ils sont abondamment assortis de citations littéraires notamment de MOLIÉRE, CORNEILLE, MÉNAGE, RABELAIS, SCARRON ou DU BELLAY" (extrait de l'excellent site Le Dicopathe.com). ‎Symbolae Facultatis Litterarum Lovaniensis - Series C : Linguistica 08. This book describes a complex computer program (implemented in Prolog by BIM) that is, thanks to the application of Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence techniques, able to analyse and process the content of a (limited) set of Dutch patient discharge summaries. Such a program achieves that not only the medium but also the message of medical documents can be treated computationally, which implies the possible automation of several medico-administrative tasks. An introduction to medical language processing as well as an overview of similar international projects is included. The bulk of the effort is dedicated to modules that are specific for the Dutch language. To this aim, existing resources (for Dutch) are re-used and integrated together with original developments. As a result, an electronic dictionary (containing some 8.000 lemmas) and a morphological recogniser (and a tagger/lemmatiser as a derived product) are realised. Another important achievement is a computer grammar (for sentence analysis) with a parser. For other modules (sublanguage and discourse analysis), software that has been developed elsewhere (Linguistic String Project team of the New York University and the Service d'Informatique Medicale, Assistance Publique - Hopitaux de Paris resp.) is adapted and extended for use with Dutch. In this way, intelligent information processing becomes feasible. Two information extraction applications illustrate the potentialities of the program. The application domain is cardiology and cardiac surgery. All components of the system are situated in their theoretical framework, extensively discussed and illustrated by means of excerpts of Prolog code and figures. A thorough evaluation has been performed as well, and the results, if possible, are compared with other results of similar tests.‎

‎The Latin vocabulary of intellectual life in the Middle Ages has been the focus of the CIVICIMA-series: nine volumes of conference-proceedings, monographs and collective works. The series has proved convincingly that analyses of the verbal expressions of medieval intellectual life and their precise meanings is a worthwhile and rewarding task, which sharpens and deepens our understanding of education and learning in the medieval world. With this tenth volume the series has been brought to a conclusion. It serves as a handbook, a practical tool for finding information and material about a considerable number of key terms, which have been classified in four categories of ?technical vocabulary? ? terms that developed specialized meanings in the context of medieval education and learning. The first category consists of the vocabulary of schools and universities (for instance, schola, magister, universitas, etc.); the second the vocabulary of the book and book production (for instance, armarium, pecia, scriptorium, etc.); the third treats the vocabulary of teaching-methods, instruments and products of intellectual life (for instance, concordantia, disputatio, glossa, etc.); the fourth the names of the disciplines, their teachers and students (for instance, artes liberales, canonista, decretista, theologia, etc.). Terms from these four categories are treated, either individually or in groups coherent with respect to content, in short and uniform articles. ‎The fifth and most recent fascicle of the Dictionary of Old english, the letter A, consists of 1505 headwords in 2331 pages on microfiche. The material on which A is based represents a fresh look at all surviving Old English (except multiple copies of texts), an estimated three million running words. Although the Dictionary of Old English is meant to serve as a bilingual translation dictionary, it is also a historical dictionary, an inventory and description of the English language from its earliest appearance in written records, ca.600. It is intended to complement the Oxford English Dictionary for the earliest period of the language; indeed, the Dictionary of Old English will catalogue the Old English vocabulary deliberately excluded from the OED because it failed to survive past 1150. The dictionary draws on as wide a range of texts in date, dialect and genre - as possible. It differs from previous dictionaries in several important features: a listing in a simplified paradigmatic order of every spelling that is attested for a word in the dictionary corpus; frequency counts for each word in the corpus so that readers can determine what proportion of the evidence has been cited; usage labels where they are statistically significant, noting restrictions to a class of texts, to an author, or to a particular period or dialect; exhaustive citation for all words of twelve or fewer occurences.
