This is an about very good hardcover copy in a good dust jacket. The jacket front and back panels are present, but spine of jacket mostly perished. The top edges of both panels chipped, the front more heavily. Very clean inside, however the paper is very acidic and the edges of the text pages have browned. Text in Italian. The book is illustrated with 21 original serigraphs by Mino Maccari. These are printed on a lighter, better quality paper. The colors are fesh and bright. Palazzeschi's fabulous creatures are playfully interpreted by Maccari, who also used two of the decorations for the front and back panel of the dust jacket. Two different illustrations have been applied directly to the paper-covered boards. There is one brief inscription in Italian from the period on the front endpaper. This is essentially a history of Giuseppe Borsalino company, the famous hat-makers from Italy. The text relates the circumstances of his birth and early years, and the fame and fortune that resulted from his sucess as a designer and maker of high quality men's hats. The photo illustrations show two plates of Borsalino hats, and many of the factory workrooms with workers making the hats. Also photos of the buildings connected the Borsalino Foundation. 43 pages of text. This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket. The light blue cloth covers have a little fading around the edges, and the leather spine labels are wearing away. The text and plates inside are very clean. The dust jacket is lightly soiled with a few small pieces missing from the spine:top, middle and bottom. Text in Italian. This survey of the arts of Lombardy includes both fine and decorative arts. This is an about very good hardcover copy of a scarce trade catalog from the Venetian retailer, Francesco Brunello. The brown cloth leatherette covers are held together by cord. The back cover is mostly missing. The front cover has the company name and title in gilt script. Clean inside and out. Inside are 29 original photographs mounted to gray card stock leaves. All photographs bear a handstamp, either to the photograph or the margin of the leaf, with Francesco Brunello's name and adress in Venice. The first two photographs are different views of Brunello's showroom. The rest of the photographs are of individual pieces of furniture, in older Italian styles, very ornate, with elaborate veneer work and gilt mounts. Most photographs also have a tipped-on label of typed, or occasionally hand-written paper giving the model number and describing the piece, its' general style and materials. Most photographs with photographer information stamped on the back, also hand-written notes in Italian. No date on the catalog, but several photographs show electrical cords typical of the 1920's and 30's. Also the first two photographs show the sign in the showroom with Brunello's five digit telephone number. Large oblong folio, 10" high X 14" wide. Richard Horn wrote the article which included a rare interview with Sottsass. Sottsass was 70 at the time, and Horn asked him to reflect back on the origins of Memphis. Illustrated in color.
