Ashcroft BC: Ash-Tree Press 2002. Collection of weird fiction by these Alsatian authors who began their collaboration in 1847 finally finding success in the 1860s with French historical fiction. Their output did include some tales of horror included in a series of British translations but the pair fell into obscurity by 1900 though praised by both M. R. James and H. P. Lovecraft. Editor Lamb began including their tales in anthologies and a collection was published by Millington in 1981 most of which appear to have vanished after that publisher's bankruptcy. This better-fated collection adds a few tales. Hardcover in jacket as pictured; near fine in near fine jacket clean & unmarked; one of 500 printed. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Octavo. Ash-Tree Press Hardcover
