This volume looks at early 20th century French fashion designs created by Georges Lepape and published in a now rare periodical called 'La Gazette du Bon Ton'. Georges Lepape 1887- 1971 was one of the best French fashion designers and illustrators of his day. He worked extensively with Paul Poiret and in March 1911 he launched the luxury fashion magazine 'La Gazette du Bon Ton'. It lasted until 1925. Out of the hundreds of illustrations that appeared in the magazine Alain Weill has selected about 90 by Georges Lepape Charles Loupot Leon Bakst Georges Barbier Benito Boutet de Monvel Brunelleschi Domergue Valentine Hugo Charles Martin among others. All plates reproduced in color and printed beautifully. Thumbnail biographies of the illustrators. Bibliography. 11" high X 8" wide 189 pages.
