‎Gutes Exemplar. - Niederländisch (Belgien) und Lateinisch. - Die Nikomachische Ethik (altgriechisch Ethiká Nikomácheia) ist die bedeutendste der drei unter dem Namen des Aristoteles überlieferten ethischen Schriften. Da sie mit der Eudemischen Ethik einige Bücher teilt, ist sie möglicherweise nicht von Aristoteles selbst in der erhaltenen Form zusammengestellt worden. Weshalb die Schrift diesen Titel trägt, ist unklar. Vielleicht bezieht er sich auf seinen Sohn oder seinen eigenen Vater, die beide Nikomachos hießen. ... (wiki) // Onderhavige uitgave bevat de tekst van twee Griekse kommentaren, respektievelijk op het eerste en op het tweede boek van de Ethica Nicomachea van Aristoteles, in de Latijnse vertaling van Robertus Grosseteste. Het betreft dus twee kommentaren op de Ethica Nicomachea, het jongste der moraalfilosofische traktaten van de Stagiriet. Beide kommen-taren werden oorspronkelijk in het Grieks geschreven, zoals wij reeds opmerkten. Zij hebben nochtans een verschillende auteur en dateren uit een verschillende periode. De kommentaar op het eerste boek is van de hand van Eustratius, Metropoliet van Nicea. Deze Eustratius liet ook een kommentaar na op het zesde boek van de Ethica en op het tweede boek der Analytica Posteriora. Hij leefde van ongeveer 1050 tot ongeveer 1120. Hi) was leerling van Joannes Italos en een beschermeling van keizer Alexius I Comnenus van Byzantium. Als vurig bestrijder der Alanicheeers en Armeniers werd hij door zijn tegenstrevers ten val gebracht en kort voor zijn dood als ketter veroordeeld. Het voornaamste bezwaar dat men inbracht tegen zijn teologie was dat hij er het Aristotelische syllogisms in had ingevoerd. Nochtans is hij inzake wijsbegeerte eerder Platonist en wij zien hem in zijn kommentaar op het eerste boek van de Ethica, meer bepaald van het vierde hoofdstuk, de verdediging van Plato opnemen tegen de aanvallen van Aristoteles. De ontstaansgeschiedenis van de kommentaar op het tweede boek is nagenoeg ongekend. In feite behoort hij tot een geheel dat ook de boeken III, IV en V beslaat. Noch de auteur, noch de datering, noch de plaats van herkomst kon vooralsnog worden achterhaald. R.-A. Gauthier suggereert de zesde eeuw als mogelijke datum van ontstaan. Men kan er geen invloed van het Kristendom in ontdekken. Daaren-tegen legt hij een uitstekende kennis van de Griekse literatuur aan de dag. ...
