Aside from launching the board game in America an act which made his fortune Milton Bradley was an early exponent of the kindergarten movement of childhood education a position he came to through his interest in the ideas and writings of the German Romantic philosopher and educational reformer Friedrich Froebel. He was introduced to these ideas by Edward Wiebe and the relationship between the two German emigres led to this book which was first published in 1869. This Quarter Century Edition of Wiebe's book also contains A Life of Friedrich Froebel by Henry W. Blake. First printing thus no others noted.
