È ben nota la maestria con la quale Heidegger si è confrontato con alcuni grandi pensatori ’’essenziali’’ del passato: Aristotele, Platone, Kant, Nietzsche. Ed è altrettanto nota l’Auseinandersetzung del filosofo tedesco col pensiero cartesiano, un confronto troppo spesso ridotto, però, dalla critica, alla celebre ’’condanna’’ di ’Essere e tempo’. Il lavoro qui presentato vuole invee ripercorrere gli ’’andirivieni’’ di Heidegger. Seguendoli, si evidenzieranno nelle lettura heideggeriana ’’cicli ermeneutici’’ che, di volta in volta, oscurano e illuminano la filosofia di Cartesio. In questa lettura mutevole, incostante, a volte ondivaga, la filosofia di Cartesio esce arricchita (ed è, questa capacità, prerogativa e qualità dei veri grandi interpreti), e risulta ancor più polimorfa e ’’inquietante’’ proprio grazie alal varietà e profondità meditativa di Heidegger. Un lavoro che, avendo di mira la filosofia heideggeriana, rimette dunque in gioco anche quella di Cartesio. Dopo un disviare solo apparente, si ritorna ad Heidegger per attestarne l’insostituibilità per ogni analisi sul senso e sul significato della storia plurimillenaria della filosofia occidentale. Riccardo De Biase (Napoli, 1964) è Dottore di Ricerca in Filosofia e collabora con la cattedra di Storia della Filosofia Moderna dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli ’’Federico II’’. Con l'espressione "discepolo di seconda mano" Kierkegaard si riferiva a coloro che, per contingenza storica, si rapportano alla figura del maestro in maniera indiretta, non essendo stati suoi "contemporanei". Nelle pagine di questo libro i panni del maestro sono vestiti da Søren Kierkegaard, e quelli di discepoli secondari da una nuova generazione di giovani studiosi del filosofo danese. Tuttavia la silloge raggruppa anche una serie di saggi di studiosi appartenenti a generazioni precedenti. Tale separazione non deve suscitare però alcuna perplessità perché, come Kierkegaard ravvisa, non esiste né un discepolo di seconda mano né un discepolo contemporaneo e ogni generazione che precede fa da battistrada e "occasione" alla generazione successiva la quale, senza lasciarsi sopraffare dallo spavento del peso da portare, deve al contrario "correre col vento in poppa". Vita e pensiero sono così strettamente uniti in K. che tutta la sua opera di scrittore è l'espressione del dramma della propria interiore esperienza dal breve periodo di vita mondana e gaudente estetica al fidanzamento con Regina Olsen che doveva aprire la fase etica della sua esistenza dalla rottura del fidanzamento con cui s'inizia lo stadio religioso della sua vita alle polemiche con il giornale umoristico Der Korsar 1845-46 e con il vescovo di Danimarca H. Martensen dal dic. 1854 con cui K. iniziò la lotta contro la chiesa ufficiale di Danimarca intensamente proseguita nel periodico �jeblikket Il Momento da lui fondato pochi mesi prima della morte. Il problema fondamentale di K. è quello dell'esistenza cristiana dell'individuo che lo induce a farsi scrittore per rendere attenti gli uomini a ciò che è il cristianesimo e distogliere la cristianità dall'immaginazione di esserlo già esponendosi per questo a essere perseguitato con lo scherno e la derisione che sono per K. la sofferenza specificamente cristiana e quindi a polemizzare contro ogni speculazione metafisica sistematica oggettiva intellettualistica che in quanto tale è per lui astrazione ossia prescinde da ciò che per il cristianesimo è l'unica realtà la realtà etica dell'individuo. Pertanto al razionalismo di G. W. F. Hegel espressione massima per K. di tale speculazione oggettiva viene opposto il pensiero soggettivo o esistenziale che dà fondamento e giustificazione alla realtà e al valore dell'individuo il singolo e alla sua esistenza attraverso gli stad� estetico etico religioso. Tra queste tre possibilità nel cammino della vita l'individuo ha il dovere di scegliere e di decidere per l'ultima quella della fede religosa che nella coscienza del peccato in timore e tremore lo pone solo di fronte all'incomprensibile Dio per fondarlo trasparente in lui nel superamento dell'angoscia e della disperazione. Il pensiero di K. è stato studiato e valorizzato in Germania nel periodo che va dagli anni immediatamente precedenti a quelli che seguirono la prima guerra mondiale Kierkegaard-Renaissance e quindi negli altri paesi prestando parecchi motivi e suggestioni il singolo l'angoscia ecc. alla filosofia dell'esistenza o esistenzialismo.
