They all came through the customs okay and Martha's shoes have made a big improvement in her tennis. She beat me 6-3 for a dollar and today I think I can get her on the court for two dollars. We'll see what happens. She is down to 127 and I'm stuck at around 215 and can't get under it probably because of no big fish to boil the fat off the inside. It's been very quiet since you left and no more shouts of 'Brown's deuce' and other rare methods of counting at tennis . I'll try and get in good shape before we come to New York so oil up your bicycle. Don't try to come off the ropes holding with that right hand because I've thought up something terrible to have happen . Original photograph of Ernest Hemingway and actress Martine Carol with the following hand written in Spanish an unknown hand on the verso: “Ernest Hemingway y Martine Carol en ‘La Timea Pa Vigia’ San Francisco de Paula ‘La Habana Baba’ Sep-23-1956.†Also on the verso stamped in blue is “Bohemia Archivo / Martine Carol / Chez Hemingway / La Havane.†In this casual photo Hemingway and Miss Carol are standing outside in Hemingway’s garden enjoying a laugh. Miss Carol is as lovely as ever wearing a summer dress and pretty earrings. Fine. Hemingway and his wife Martha Gellhorn moved to Cuba in 1939 and in 1940 bought the "Finca Vigia" "Lookout Farm". In 1960 he left Cuba and Finca Vigia for the last time. Martine Carol 1920 - 1967 reigned as France’s cinematic sex siren in the 1950s with memorable roles in such films as Wolf Farm 1943 Adorable Creatures 1952 Sins of the Borgias 1953 Madame du Barry 1954 and Nana 1954 and the title role in Max Ophuls' Lola Montes 1955 portraying a charismatic and alluring circus performer. 7 1/4†x 5 1/8†unknown books
