Written by Joseph Ernest Renan a French Orientalist and Semitic scholar who wrote on Semitic languages and civilizations a historian of religion philologist philosopher biblical scholar and critic. In the original quarter calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally sound with light bumping and chipping to the extremities. Minor loss to the head of the spine and board edges with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Covers slightly scuffed on corners but the faces show very little signs of wear. Pages slightly browned with age and binding is strong throughout pageblock. Faces of pageblock have been sprinkled with dark red paint. Text in good condition with no markings or annotations.
