Former owner's inscription on front free endpaper: "Philip Bayard April 1896." Philip Bayard 1872-1911 was descended from a long line of political and financial leaders in Philadelphia and Delaware. From 1906 or earlier to 1908 he served as American Vice Consul General in Morocco. Tragically he died in 1911 having jumped or fallen from the third-floor window of a hospital in Washington D.C. Lacking title page and containing only 4 plates rather than the 13 called for on the spine label; otherwise in Very Good- Condition: lower corner of spine label lacking without loss of text; spine slightly soiled; dampstain along upper edge of last 2 plates and final pages; otherwise clean and tight. <br/><br/> William Glaisher hardcover
