A scarce early edition of this beautifully illustrated book on the Old Towns of the Flanders both the Belgian and French Flanders by Albert Robidaillustrated by the author with one hundred and fifty-five originals drawings including twenty-five plates an etching to frontispiece and a colour illustrated half title. First edition. In French. Albert Robida 1848 -1926 was an illustrator etcher lithographer caricaturist and novelist. He edited and published La Caricature magazine for twelve years. Through the 1880s he wrote an acclaimed trilogy of futuristic novels. In the 1900s he created 520 illustrations for Pierre Giffard's weekly serial La Guerre Infernale. Condition: In original illustrated cloth binding. Externally generally smart but with slight wear to extremities andoccasional marks to boards. Internally firmly bound.
