En ella se recrea el "paso" de Hern�n Cot�s por la rep�blica de Tlaxcala lo que permite depu�s obtener el triunfo en M�xico-Tenochtitlan coraz�n del imperio azteca. Con personajes hist�ricos como el propio Cort�s la Malinche el h�roe tlaxcalteca Xicotencatl y senadores como Maxiscatzin y Xicotencatl padre sustenta la tesis de que la conquista espa�ola en Am�rica obedeci� m�s a las divisiones internas de los indigenas que al genio de los invasores. Para ilustrarla el autor recontruye los sucesos ocurridos en Tlaxcala entre 1519 y 1521 y da su propio veredicto hist�rico.
