Original publishers purple cloth bindings. Spines lettered and decorated in gilt boards with blind-stamped decorative borders. Pale green endpapers. Corners ends of spines and hinges are a but rubbed and bumped. Inner hinges are cracked but all holding. Gilt on spines a little dulled but overall this is a very good set. Scarce in the publishers original cloth bindings. Published the year after both the original Brussels and first English editions this is the last three decker edition. ------- This copy was once owned by the famous artist Briton Riviere 1840 - 1920. It is signed by him to the half title of each volume and also has an autograph signed letter tipped into the front of volume 1 and a further ALS loosely inserted.</p> Hurst and Blackett, Successors to Henry Colburn.
