Madrid : Sexto Piso 2011. 1st Edition. Soft cover. New/No Jacket. Sexto Piso paperback

Leipzig: Kurt Wolff Verlag 1915. His masterpiece in original wrappers Octavo. Original cream paper wrappers printed in red and black with an illustration by Ottomar Starke edges uncut. Light wear and minor glue repair at spine ends wrappers a little toned with minor peripheral nicking contents clean and umarked. A very good copy. First edition first printing. The first of Kafka's masterpieces was issued both in boards and as here in wrappers. Sales were unimpressive; after a year or so the numerous unsold copies were stamped on the title pages with the official stamp of the German censors. This copy has no stamp to the title page and is therefore of the original issue. With the ownership signature to the front wrapper of the German writer Irene Forbes-Mosse 1864-1946 translator and poet whose works were later banned under the Third Reich. She was the younger sister of the novelist Elisabeth von Heyking 1861-1925. Dietz 26. Leipzig: Kurt Wolff Verlag, hardcover
