A two-volume set in the publisher's original cloth bindings. Benjamin Robert Haydon 1786-1846 was a British artist who specialised in historical paintings although he also painted portraits. In 1839 Haydon drew upon his extensive journals to write an autobiography. He had reached the year 1820 before he took his life. This autobiography was edited by Tom Taylor with additional material from his diaries and was first published in three volumes in 1853. This edition complete in two volumes was reprinted from the 1853 edition. Illustrated throughout. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally smart though slightly faded to the spines and a little bumped to the extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Peter Davies hardcover

All seven VHS tapes are Brand New and still sealed. All seven cases feature B&W cover art and a synopsis of the subject of each TV show from the publisher. Each tape is 29 minutes long and features an in-depth interview with some of the most famous artists in the world. Three Writers one Theologian one Broadway Playwright one Film Director and one Anthropologist. Vol 1 is Aldous Huxley Vol 2 is Upton Sinclair Vol 3 is Paul Tillich Vol 4 is Margaret Mead Vol 5 is Clifford Odets Vol 6 is Jean Renoir and Vol 7 is Ray Bradbury. These are very scarce and I can only find a few in libraries that have survived. Here are the first 7 in the series of 26 shows and brand new. Herman Harvey was an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at USC between 1952 and 1972. Harvey was recognized as an outstanding educator and researcher and in 1963 was among the first professors to receive the USC Associates’ award for excellence in teaching. At an early date Harvey recognized the educational possibilities of television. His three half-hour series — “Psychology on TV” “Child Psychology on TV” and “The Nature of Human Nature” — received wide acclaim. He developed the “Sum and Substance” series of 26 half-hour television programs for CBS. Each show consisted of in-depth interviews with figures such as Margaret Mead Aldous Huxley Paul Tillich Upton Sinclair and Gregor Piatigorsky. This series was aired in Canada Australia Japan and Poland and it brought Harvey numerous invitations to lecture in America and Europe. A superb set still sealed in the publishers shrink-wrap. First published by Smith Elder and Co. in 1913 with this work being the first John Murray edition of the work and the fifth edition overall. Complete in two volumes in the original publisher's cloth.With a frontispiece to each volume six sketches in photogravure eighteen plates folding plates to the end of each volume and numerous other illustrations. Collated complete. With the bookplate of B. W. Waters to front paste down and a tipped in newspaper clipping regarding the Scott Polar Research institute inauguration at Cambridge.Arranged by Leonard Huxley with a preface by Sir Clements R. Markham. Detailing the Terra Nova Expedition in which Captain Robert Falcon Scott led a team with the ambition to be the first to reach the geographic South Pole. Upon reaching their destination the team realised that a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen had beaten them by more than a month. The team of five tragically died during the return from the Pole with the later discovered journals the source material for this work. An early edition of this important work of Polar exploration. In publisher's blue cloth. Externally very smart with slight bumping to the extremities and the odd light mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Captain Robert Falcon Scott was a British Royal Navy officer and explorer who led two major expeditions to the Antarctic regions known as the Discovery expedition of 1901-04 and the Terra Nova expedition of 1910-13 the latter of which this work covers. Copiously illustrated throughout including photogravure frontispieces eighteen colour plates three double-page plates six further photogravure plates and eight folding maps.Collated complete. In the original cloth binding. Externally with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Backstrip to Vol I has a tear running down the tail of the spine. Marks to the cloth more so to Vol I.
