Il y a bien longtemps que les hommes ne s'y risquent plus; la cruauté du patriarche ayant réussi à faire fuir les courtisans les plus assidus. Mais voilà que ce dictateur fantoche tombe éperdument amoureux de la reine de beauté des pauvres la sublime Manuelle Sanchez...Satire désopilante de tous les régimes dictatoriaux L'Automne du patriarche creuse une brèche dans le registre du burlesque il parvient à rendre le burlesque plus profond et plus touchant.
